Short wait to get in at lunch. If you get tempura: 1. Mix soy sauce with the paste (excuse my ignorance) 2. You use this mix for dipping. Don't mistake the waiter's instructions and pour it on your rice! He laughed and kindly brought me some more. 3. Enjoy the best tempura you've ever had cooked in front of you... More

It was little difficult to find (I recommend using the pictures on the reviews here) but well worth searching for. This was our first night in Japan and felt like a great way to experience some local cuisine in a traditional atmosphere, sat at the bar watching the chefs frying tempura in big vats of bubbling oil. The staff had... More

Difficult to describe but it was light, not greasy and consequently flavorful. But try other menu items as they are all exceptional. Very helpful staff. We tried to call for a reservation and then asked the hotel to try. In both instances we were told they were full and we would have to wait, probably an hour. When we got... More

The place is a little hard to find, due to the external signage only being in Japanese. Once inside they can provide English menus. To make life even easier they have some set menus available to give you a good range. The food is amazing, and is quite enjoyable to watch the preparation and cooking of the food. Be aware... More

Came here right when it opened. There were people waiting so that was a good sign. Food was great. Sitting at the counter was fun. Would repeat if there weren't so many other choices.

We just sat down. Menu came to us in English. We were very excited. Waitress came to us and she started to force us to order. Wouldn't let us look at the menu. Kept saying ORDER NOW, ORDER!!! I asked for a minute she said she'd recommend and then started forcing me u items on us. No clue what is... More

We ate in this Tempura restaurant on a Saturday night with no reservation, we may have been lucky however we were sat immediately at the bar area so we could watch the chefs cook. We arrived about 8:15. There is an English menu and the servers are very friendly. I had the 11 piece tempura and my girlfriend had the... More

I sat at the bar and got to see the tempura chefs do their thing. It was really fun seeing how they prepare everything and how much the locals chatted up the staff. This felt like a high end place.

This was a friendly and welcoming traditional Japanese tempura restaurant. English- friendly menus and really good service. A truly wonderful experience!

Neighborhood Profile
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
