Come for lunch, you will not regret it. It's a Michelin one star restaurant that for diner is very expensive. At lunch the prices are very reasonable and the food is excellent. All the dishes are with sardines - sashimi and fry. Love it.

Stellar food at a bargain price. You'll pay only 800 or 900 yen for a lunch course with sides. Everything tastes fresh. By far one of the best food experiences I've had in Tokyo. Dinner is supposedly much more expensive, so arrive at lunchtime for...More

Nakajima is likely among the cheapest Michelin star meal one could afford. You will have to queue for it, yet it will be worth the wait. Menu is seasonal with a few alternative sets to chose from. During my visit, sardine was the focus of...More

I’ve been meaning to visit the Michelin 1 restaurant Nakajima in Shinjuku for a few years and finally made it there. I arrived about 11.00 am and was second in line for the 11.30 am opening. At 11.30 there was a long queue up to...More

Arrived at restaurant about 15 minutes before opening and there were about 10 people already in line. After being seated, orders were then taken. I ordered the set menu with sardines simmered in a soy sauce dashi, miso soup, rice, and tsukemono (pickled vegetables), served...More

We went here for the last night of our honeymoon! We were super excited to try a Michelin restaurant in Japan. Maybe we are spoilt by the price-value of Spanish Michelin restaurants, but we were quite shocked by the quality of this set menu relative...More

Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and
contains the busiest train station in the world. To
the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo
Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the
east, there’s a district with long-established
department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku
Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the

I would presume no longer than 10 minutes of brisk walking from your hotel. From the South exit of Shinjuku station, just continue walking towards the left hand side (towards Shinjuku Gyoen) and you will pass by rows of... More
