Worth a visit - absolutely! A lot of locals were waiting to enter, a good sign. Sitted at the bar, we were served "usual" tempura, tasty and artistic in preparation. Worth to visit and to have a lunch.

We were very late for our dinner and started only queuing at 21:15, knowing that the last order is 22:00. It was highly recommended by a Friend and thought we should just queue. Food was great, I paid about 6000yen (which comes with Uni tempura),...More

The tempura was fine but it was not mind blowing. At $9 a single prawn... not worth it! Do not recommend. Feel totally ripped off when there re so many other options out there. Way too expensive!

Reallh dissapointing dinner. Totally overrated and overpriced. This is not a place I would reccomend as there are 1000's of better places in Tokyo. Lonely Planet did not do their homework here.

Worst meal in the 9 days we spent in Japan. Anyone can make better tempura than this. Arrogant staff and cooks and to top it off they charged around 1000 Yen for a 1 piece shrimp tempura, normally you get around 5 pieces for this...More

Try to get a seat at the bar so you can see how the food is prepared. I read that there normally is a waiting queue but I had a late breakfast and went for lunch at 14:30 and immediately got a seat. It was...More

Sorry for late reply. As my several visit this restaurant & as I knew, I think they didn't take any reservation. Only walk-in customer & queue up. But not sure if any changes currently. Thank you.

I reserved by calling - English is understandable. I also asked my hotel to book with them another time, and I did that by email.

Yes for sure they have vegetarian options. Not sure if you count egg as meat, if not definitely try the egg tempura (yes you read that right, and no, it's not hard boiled!)

We,Tsunahachi, has been a traditional Japanese tempura restaurant since 1923. You can enjoy a cozy atmosphere at a reasonable price, with counter seating providing guests with hot and airy tempura cooked right before your eyes. For traditional and delicious Japanese tempura, a visit to Tsunahachi is a must. 3 minutes from Shinjuku and Shinjuku 3-chome stations.
