I first discovered this place by accident in Shibuya, with stomach grumbling, I stumbled into the first place I found with an English menu. Boy was my stomach grateful! I had the most scrumptiously delicious pizza ever created. The interior also blew my mind. Very gothic cathedral. A great photo opportunity! When I next was in Tokyo I of course... More

Famous apparently because it has been decorated as a church, Christon Cafe is just an average themed restaurant in Tokyo. Before sitting down, a dude told us (with his not so good English) that a minimum spend of 500 yen is required. No problemo I said, because we were thinking about getting a couple of drinks and some nibbles. We... More

I saw it as one of the quirky restaurants in Tokyo and I'd invited my cousins to have dinner here also because their selling point is it almost like dining in a cathedral. It was more like a bar than a restaurant. Because it was weekend when we got there, there are a lot of people and we were asked... More

So, this is one of those theme restaurants that you read about as a wild wacky thing to do in Tokyo. Well, if you want to eat dinner, I wouldn't bother. Had a business dinner here recently and the food was absolutely in-edible. The atmosphere is interesting, if you like your interior facades to be all prefabbed vegas style kitsch.... More

There are a lot fancy restaurant out there, but not look like this restaurant. Located in the main street of shinjuku, you wouldn't believe until you get in. The restaurant actually in downstairs, just like going to the some hidden room. The atmosphere is so religious.. there are a lot of statue and classic furniture. So you won't feel like... More

This is a unique gothic restaurant/bar. It's that stylish over the top Japanese goth that really adds some nice flavore, with drinks that have glowing ice and some really excellent food. The also have wild parties and events on the weekends that don't even start till 11:30, for a wild night out. I particularly like the location in Shinjuku, because... More

This restaurant is decked out in the style of an ornate gothic church, complete with plenty of religious artefacts, stained glass, gargoyles, and faux candles. The food is izakaya style, with a fair degree of Japanese/Western crossover, and whilst nothing special it is reasonable value for what you get. It's very popular with young people. There is a compulsory amuse... More

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighborhood Profile
Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
