This restaurant is made for tourists, which is why we hated it! Food was uninteresting, over cooked, salty and slathered in grease...so different from the more authentic, local restaurants in Tokyo. We felt rushed in and out - save your money for a better experience elsewhere!

Cool place for dinner when you want Japanese but want something the kids also like. When you sit down its like an outside marker but it has air conditioning. The sushi bar is also a nice place to sit.

Staff speaks good English and were very helpful. I eat vegetarian and they offered to change the ingredients of some of their dishes to make them veg-friendly. I loved the avocado nigiri and mushroom skewers.

After living in tokyo a few years ago the memories of "Gonpachi" restaurant in azabu juban are strong and good. Noe we cam to visit again. We tried to reserve a place. End there was no room!! We had that evening only so instead we went to the ginza branch. What a dissapointment! The food was good (but not more),... More

Just loved the interior of this place as the inspiration to the fight scene in Kill Bill. We went with friends from Tokyo so managed to sample a number of Japanese dishes which were delicious - although our friends say it's not the very best in Japanese Cuisine, but we had to take their word for it. It's a very... More

This is a sister restaurant of the famous medieval castle restaurant which was the site for a dinner meeting between Japan's Prime Minister and President Bush II. Gonpachi Ginza is not as elaborate, but the food is equally good, the staff are very attentive, and the ambience is fun.

We have ordered special omakaze sushi set. The chef was so friendly, he tried his best to explain ingredient, type of fishes, and how to eat it. I can speak very light Japanese but he still explain calmly. One of the best bite is Chu-Toro for me. It's not to oily but uni also good too. If you have time... More

Many restaurants in one place. Dense atmosphere. Decent food for a reasonable price. Many sepeare rooms. Strangely, the sushi is NOT the best dish.

I hate hit and run reviews especially when lots of people apparently love this place based on the reviews. But we were quite disappointed. More like a Japanese equivalent of Denny's, although I haven't been to a Denny's for a while. Maybe it's because we got seated upstairs in the big open room, close to some very loud, drunk kids.... I have been visiting this place for last 10 years. The food and the service has never disappointed. Yakitori, Sushi, Soba, tempura are all really delicious ! Wine selection is good too ! Kids friendly. The staff always welcome you warmly with a smile, even if it's a rush hour !
