Lovely Akita restaurant where you can have good times, plenty of excellent Sake from all over Japan and cook yourself a delicious hotpot, together with Sashimi and other great things. And every now and then Namahage itself will visit your table!

The restaurant has managed to make Akita an experience, and very well, i may add. The food is authentic (as per my Japanese friends) and the Namahage "visit" is a great photo-op moment, especially if you are with a group. While i am not a beer person, my friends especially likes the Akita beer - a bit steep, but worth... More

This was Japanese folklore-related Izakaya recomended by Japanese local colleagues. Interesting thing : the demonlike being is actually a blessing for the coming year. From time to time Namahage would show up and make fun of customers and heat up the atmosphere of dining. The food is quite okay and, of course, mostly perfect match with beers! 日本同事介紹, 是關於他們民俗傳說(生剝)的餐廳 有趣的是,... More

I think it is safe to say this is a good snapshot of Akita culture. A Namahage greets you as soon as you get off the elevator (this is a 9th floor restaurant). And you have the option to sit in a wooden kamakura (igloo). They offer Sake from what appears to be every brewery in Akita and have each... More

This restaurant specializes on the cuisine of the Akita region, which includes i.e. Kiritanpo, which we had in a hot pot. But also the sashimi appetizer was delicious, and I have never had smoked pickles before. The biggest fun (especially for our 8 year old) was when 'namahage' made its rounds. This is the regional 'ogre', who walks from table... More
