As an Italian I hold Italian restaurants to a much higher standard than do most. This "fine dining" place is such only on the surface. Digging a bit deeper I found the menu to be extremely limited (see photos) and expensive. Plus they served shark's fin, a mortal sin in this day and age, and certainly not "Italian" by any... More

Good setting inside the beautiful Chinsanzo Hotel. Set menu for breakfast - tried the American breakfast after a week of traditional Japanese food....consisting of half sausage, bacon ham cut, 2 eggs cooked to your request, green salad, juice, coffee and pastries with jam condiments. If you need to eat something different for a change in the hotel...can be acceptable. Average... More

Perhaps a bit too formal. Serve "extra dry" champagne. Not so good. We tries their tasting menu, cost about 12,000 yen. Bit expensive for what we got.

I visited this restaurant, because when they used to be "BICE," it was excellent restaurant. But I regret I should never dined here. All silvers they serve taste really bad, had metal smell and sour taste. I told waiter that I could not stand the taste of all silvers, he made annoying face, changed the silver to other one, but... Today was a long overdue first experience at Teatro. We had been put off by the location. We were wrong. About 15 minutes from Shibuya by train and then a quick 5 minute cab or bus from Mejiro Station. Alternately it is not that far from Ginza or the business district either. First a stroll in the gardens in which... More

I have just had dinner here after a stroll around the Chinzan-so garden right outside the hotel. This restaurant had the perfect blend of excellent food and efficient but unobtrusive service. The high ceilings and tall windows create a relaxed ambience. It's an impressive setting but in no way overbearing. Some hotels and restaurants seem to have been designed to... More

Staying in Ikebukuro

Neighborhood Profile
Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme.
