Mucha-an is a small traditional wooden restaurant in a quiet corner of the lovely hillside garden attached to Chinzanso hotel. Its speciality is buckwheat soba noodles, served hot or cold, but the set meals also include sashimi and tempura. Service is graceful and the standard of food is high: the prices reflect this.

Located in the awesome Chinzan-so gardens, in the woods. It is a charm restaurant, an old ryokan. Traditional and homemade soba. Warming place, nice views of the gardens if you can sit down close the windows. Friendly people and one of the best dinner during my trip. And it was not expensive, around 80 euros for two people including drinks.... More

Very nice traditional sushi with tremendous location. To try during sakura to taste the cherry blossoms based dishes. Not much English but that's Japan in general!

Neighborhood Profile
Ikebukuro
Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme. It has rapidly become the worldwide headquarters for ‘otaku’ or geek culture.
