Placed in a very nice entourage, the first impression is wonderful. Then comes the lady manager. I can't really put my finger on it, but she made you feel a miserable guy because you did not order wine ... "No, I do not drink" I had to say, which is true and at least stopped her from keeping on with... More

My wife and I were promised a meal out for the care we have given to our three grandchildren over the last couple of years. She had wanted us to go to a plush pub-restaurant in Marlow, but that was just so booked up it was impossible to get a suitable date, and I heard later that because of demand... More

Contrary to some of the reviews of The Sir Charles Napier, we came away having enjoyed our first visit hugely. Service was prompt and friendly and food from tasting menu beautifully presented, paced and all cooked to a tee. The warm atmosphere in this cosy restaurant reflects the pride, care and vision shown by its owner of 40 years standing,... More

Nice welcome and offered opportunity to sit in bar or garden and have a pre lunch drink. Front of house lady seemed distracted. She offered us a dessert menu first. Then, as I am gluten intolerant, I asked her questions about the menu. Particularly which items would be left off the plate. After two questions, she asked if I would... More

We have eaten here 4 times and have always had high expectations and are never disappointed. First the decor: love the first pub section; gorgeous slightly shabby but very classy dark linen sofas, in winter roaring fires. The service: rare to get this now but really knowledgable , well informed about the dishes and how they are cooked, friendly but... More

We have not eaten in this charming restaurant for several years and our return visit today served to remind us what we have been missing. Julie, the owner and manager, somehow contrives to maintain superb standards despite occasional changes to kitchen and waiting staff. She has now received the Michelin star which she has richly deserved for many, many years.... More

If you appreciate fine dining this is location is as close to perfection as you can get. The standard of cooking is very high and presentation is excellent. There is a very large wine list to compliment the meal.

We have been to this restaurant few times, mainly for lunch, the two course meal at about £20 ahead is very good value, and the food is always delecious. Our most recent visit was for a Sunday roast in early July. I do think some of the reviws have been too harsh. Yes, there are aspects of the service which... More

We were recommended this restaurant and it was worth the interesting journey down narrow lanes. I am surprised at some of the reviews. We found the service friendly. The tomato juice cocktail (which was also the basis of the Bloody mry my husband had) was first class. We were sat at a nice quiet table in the area next to... More

The set menu portions, although elegantly presented, were laughably small and poor value for money. Most waiting staff were pleasant with the exception of the manageress (?) who was off-hand. For a 'prestigious' restaurant, the ladies' facilities are dreadful with just one loo for everyone!
