Well! Where to start? This highly rated restaurant was a real disappointment, Tuesday may have been training day but the service was found to be very patchy. Concentration from the staff and Manager/Owner was very lacking. After taking our order for dinner, including the drinks, when shown to our table we were asked "Would you like to order wine"? was... Looked forward to this gift from my son and perhaps I was unlucky but this evening disappointed. Access from car park down a corridor past the toilets is certainly different and unfortunately set the tone for the evening. Ordered campari soda, got capari with orange juice. Good scallops were spoilt by being gritty, shared rib of beef requested 'pink in... More

The menu has plenty of interest, but doesn't quite deliver. My scallop & carrot starter was fine, but fairly tiny. My main course suckling pig was very good - with the pork presented in a variety of ways. The pudding - a chocolate and peanut terrine was beautifully presented but tasted fairly horrible. It was absurdly sweet, totally dominated by... More

We were well received by the staff who were friendly and dealt with our order efficiently. The food was freshly cooked and in portions that were very acceptable. Would be happy for a return visit.

We have been visiting this restaurant for many years and have never had a problem. The pub is warm and welcoming, especially with the log fire in the winter months. Julie and her staff always welcome us with a smile and can't help enough. The food is incredible! The soufflé is a favourite but last night I opted for the... More

Just what we wanted, log fires, comfy chairs, friendly service and good food and wine, a great place to visit

The venue is themed as a comfortable pub at the front with dim lighting, sofas and armchairs all grouped around a fire. All very cosy. However, we were left waiting for so long with our drinks in this pub area that my husband eventually had to seek out a staff member to inquire about our table - only to be... More

The service was excellent. Food was extremely good, pricey but well worth it, especially for special, memorable meal.

As long as you are prepared to wait and have all the time in the world this would be the place to come. It has a lovely charm about the place. A little communication would enable the party to manage the long gaps between courses. A smile occasionally too would have been nice. Food was fine when it came though... More

Having eaten at so many great restaurants around the world, I have to say that this is probably the finest I have ever had the privilege to visit. Having chosen the tasting menu for our group we were served delight after delight. But here I must stop writing and simply say, 'Do try their food for yourself. I'd be so... More
