I was quite looking forward to visiting this place with it being directly opposite the towns fish market. I found it expensive (133 euros for four and we were being conservative) and a bit pants to be honest. we conversed in Spanish so there was no language problem. I shared a plate of fish with father-in-law and it was mostly... More

Delicious prawns! These Garrucha Gambas are straight out the sea and in your plate. These highly sort after prawns are a must. Good service too!

The service is not exactly overfriendly. The gambas are overpriced and were cold once they reached our table. The Gallo Pedro looked delicious but was dry and overcooked. In other words, don't waste your time and money. Head towards Neptuno in Mojacar or Playa Azul in Villaricos instead. Especially the latter had fantastic seafood and rice dishes.

Expensive for what you will receive on your plate. Food was okay..but for these prices the expectations are high and not met. Staff is nice but not very interested.Although the location is promising (just across the harbour with fishing boats) in general this restaurant is disappointing. 8 Garrucha gamba's (no side dishes etc) grilled on the plate with some sea... Visited twice in 3 days since despite dreadful service on first visit the fish main course was very good. Decided that everyone has an off day so tried again. Big mistake, service even worse, food average at best, prices a rip-off. Almost anywhere would be better but if you like being ignored, over-priced food and contempt then please visit. Ps.... More

Given this restaurant is right across from the dock where the fish auction is and Garrucha is renowned for the quality of its prawns - I felt very comfortable in ordering the Gambas, even given they were charging 25 euros for them. But I had to leave some of them AS THEY WERE ROTTEN. The bread was dried up- almost if... More

staff completely disinterested , seemed to concentrate on their buddies at the bar. Food average , a little greasy , nothing special. Owners Porsches parked outside says it all ,we will rip you off and laugh at tourists - avoid .

On Easter weekend if most of your customers who have reserved tables walk out because they cannot get served you need more staff. I guess the reputation has made the owner lazy and disinterested, which is a pity as the seafood is fresh, good and well cooked. Prices are high, and I suspect I will eat elsewhere next time. I'd... This restaurant is across the dock from the fish auction house. Whilst sitting at your table, you can watch the catch unloaded from the boats into the auction, then a box of fish carried across the dock into the El Almejero kitchen. It doesn't come fresher than that. The service is fast and friendly. The restaurant is used by local... More

We have eaten here on numerous occasions in the past but the last two times have been distinctly bad. The worst was today when we arrived with son and daughter-in-law to give them a treat before travelling bad to the cold in England. We ordered two raciones of croquetas de gambas at 10€ a racion, but you would have been... More
