La Taberna del gourmet is a traditional Spanish bar/restaurant frequented by mainly local people and some tourists who love to taste the local cuisine. Here, tapas culture is like a religion for locals where food is best enjoyed in small bites.

Tuna Tartar with Quinoa Salad, Wakame, Wasabi & Soy Sauce, 65º Egg with Potato, Mushroom, Green Asparagus & Black Truffle and Red Prawns were some of the best things that we ate, though all of the dishes were amazing. We sipped delicious wine, shared food...More
We have eaten twice in this restaurant on our short stay over Xmas. The first time we chose the Tapas taster menu which was absolutely delicious, not cheap but ample to eat and each dish with the exception of the bruschetta, a delight. With it...More
Service was good, even though busy, English and Spanish spoken with English menus. In that sense easy to find, book and order.
Food however was not as good as cheaper places nearby, and left with the impression prices were pushed up and ingredients chosen to...More
This is a classy looking restaurant just off the main thoroughfare in Alicante. We curiously received a warm, but a somewhat hesitant welcome. All okay so far....till the eagerly awaited prawn starter arrived....I did a double take of the plate....these guys didn't exactly feed themselves...More

If you want something a bit special...this is the place to go. We visited twice during our trip and all meal selections and wines were very good. We sat at the back of the restaurant, in the more formal seating area. Chicken, steak, fish....all good.

When you come out of the hotel entrance, cross the road and up the steps onto the Promenade and turn right. There is a nice outside bar on the left here. At the end of the Promenade there are steps back down onto the pavement and a pedestrian crossing.
If you cross the road and walk straight on, dont turn left and follow the row of restaurants, but keep walking the road then bends to the left and continues behind the restaurant (you are now walking parallel to the row of restaurants but behind them) This road doesnt look particularly appealing but dont be put off. The restaurant is on the right with the stone facade instead of windows..
Sorry for the longwinded explanation but only a 5 min walk from the hotel.
