Cracking concept - waiters come round with what's just been cooked, all served on little wooden boards, and you take what you fancy the look of. All priced at 1.10 euros with beer and wine 2.40. Go for the baby squid, beef stew, calamari, pork and quails egg pinchos.
Quit telling that the place is rammed every night with a mix of locals and tourists too.

Brilliant place, visited a few times. Go in find a table and sit down, a waiter will come and take your drink order you then just relax and wait. Trays of tapas are brought round, each one on its own wooden block, if you see what you want take it or wait for the next selection of even ask for your favourite. Eat as many as you want. At the end you pay according to how many blocks and glasses are on your table. Great experience.

We visited this little gem of a restaurant twice and we were absolutely bowled over by the mouth watering food which was excellent value for money. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the beer & wine were very reasonable. The deep fried aubergine and the tripe casserole were absolutely to die for and other winners were the baby calamari, Spanish omlette, fish goujons and the fried cheese. We discovered the restaurant very late in our holiday, so we are very sad that we were only able to visit twice. I'm still thinking about the delicious food a week after returning home. Divine!!!!

Although the food itself is not too bad and it's cheap, the staff was extremely unfriendly and impatient. It was the first time that I visited this place and I wasn't sure how it's working. I thought I'll be given meu, but instead waiters just go around with a tray with food and you pick and choose what you would like. Unfortunately, I felt like I can't even ask what is what becuase they were making faces. I also noticed that hygiene is unknown in this place, waiters were throwing empty bottles and trays in anger and overall the athmopshere was really unpleasant and tense. I also noticed that they didin't count one of my board (they preapre your bill based on the number of wooden boards you have on your table) and they were also rude about that and shouted at me, that all boards are counted. Shame as this could be a very nice, affordable place.

LOCATION
Based in the centre of Alicante and not far from the seafront, castle and casino this is an easy location to find. no tables available outside so you can only sit inside which is a relatively small restaurant, however the idea is not for you to stay around for ages. I can only describe this as the fast food of Tapas.
STAFF
Friendly and welcoming and speak good English so no issues with ordering what you want. The main waiter was very friendly and used to serving tourists as well as locals, however not sure he rasped the concept of a food allergy.
FOOD
Cheap and cheerful. I can see from other reviews that people are disappointed with the food, but you pay 1.1 euros a dish so your not going to get gourmet food. The dishes are a mouthful each and you tell the waiter how many dishes and they just bring you out random dishes of food. When the restaurant was busier they started bringing out platters of different dishes and you could pick whihc ones you wanted. I think we had 5 dishes each in the end so only 5.50 for lunch. A small beer was less than a euro so this really is a cheap and cheerful place to eat. The dishes were all pretty tasty, all be it some of the meats were very fatty.
Overall I would recommend if you want somewhere quick, easy and cheap to eat at a lower end budget location.

We popped in for a quick bite for lunch. The tapas are made fresh and served every 15 minutes. There’s a selection of meat and seafood options. At 1.10 euro a tapa, and .80 euro a caña, it’s a great little low-key place to pop into for a quick snack.

I had been here before but my wife had not. As we were staying in Alicante for the night we decided to pop in here for lunch. Apart from the red wine being chilled everything else was wonderful and terribly good value. We ended up with 6 tapas, 2 glasses of the chilled red, 2 glasses of white wine and a small bottle of water. Total bill €14.40, outstanding value! Service is great and the waiter carries a tray of freshly cooked tapas and you pick what you want. Each one is €1.10. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun. Highly recommended and would visit again.

A great place that can be quite loud.
The waiters make sure there is always a great atmosphere here
That combined with cheap beer and tapas is a sure hit.
My8 family liked this place.

We visited this quaint restaurant mainly on the recommendation of glowing trip advisor reviews. It feels very homely and traditional and the service from the waitress was good. The wine was also good. Unfortunately the paella which we ordered was extremely salty, to the point where no other flavours were detectable. As someone who hates wasting food we persevered with the dish, however conceded and couldn’t finish it. Given the other positive reviews on trip advisor maybe this was just a bad night for the cook; however, very disappointed nevertheless!

It was our first time in Alicante and after doing some research online, this looked like a big must. I’m glad we did it and followed the online reviews cause it ended up being my favourite place in Alicante.
If you’re a tapas lover this is a no-brainer. They have cañas for 0,80 and each tapa for 1,10. The way it works is you sit down, there’s no menu, and just wait for one of the waiters to offer you tapas from a tray. They come really often and each round has a different tapa dish to offer from the one before pretty much .At the end of the meal they count all the blocks and glasses to see how much you have to pay.
I went with my boyfriend and as it was a Saturday night it was really busy so we did have to wait around half an hour queuing outside (keep this in mind). Once you’re un though, everything is worth it.
Tapas vary from seafood, to chorizo dishes, to pizza, fries, fried cheese, and many many more. I even saw a few sweet tapa options going around (but was already super full)

Lovely little place. Cheep n cheerful. Cold beers at your table in an instant. Trays of tasty tapas are brought through the bar every few minutes for your to pick and choose from. We generally pop in on our way back from the beach.

This place gets very busy. We went there on a rainy day mid-week when it was empty. I had a lot of fun with the food - they bring platter after platter of small portions of calamari, meats, deep fried stuff, croquettes, small fish, ensalada rusa, small sandwiches of fried egg on bacon, you name it. You pick from the platter so you can see your food before you choose it. Each come on a small wooden board which you collect and you pay at the end for how many you had. They ring a bell when they get a tip. It works out a lot cheaper than other places. This is not diet food, to be sure.

Small traditional indoor tapas bar, ideally located for Gran Sol Melia hotel.
Tapas €1. 30 per dish, served on wooden blocks with tasty local wine or beer alongside. Great selection of meat, seafood and vegetarian dishes, although I'm not sure a vegetarian would find enough to choose ( I'm not vegetarian so just my thoughts) .

Loved it , the food was amazing as was the service and drinks ,Very laid back, trays of wonderful tapa passing by and you just choose what you want . Some really great food. You pay at the end ,when you have finished eating and drinking, they don't clear any thing away and they then tot up what you've had and you pay. Nearly all dishes are 1e . Great staff and very authentic place. I have visited Spain many times but this is the best Tapas bar by a mile and its unbelievably cheap.

What a find, just looking for something a bit more authentic and we certainly found it here! Very busy when we arrived but a table for two was given to us and drink order taken, I think it's only beer or wine or soft drinks available, then you just chat and wait for the servers to bring out a selection of hot freshly prepared tapas, which they offer to you as they pass. They give a description of what they are offering and if you like it you just take, each is on a piece of bread on a wooden slab, the wooden slabs are counted at the end to enable them to charge you correctly, great concept. Each were €1.30 or if in a ceramic dish €2 euro. A huge selection is brought round, to appeal to all, meat, fish, vegetables, such a great way to enjoy tapas. The bar is very noisy but only in a good way due to the amount of people in it, creating a great atmosphere. I would highly recommend a visit.
