This is a small place on the middle of "Main Street", just about across from the Visitor/Information Center (see pic for surrounding landmarks). We sat on the patio and enjoyed watching the dogs protect their section of street. We shared a huge bowl of ceviche...with leche de tigre, and inhaled the delicious thin, crispy housemade potato chips. They have bottles of white and red wines (2 choices each) for only 15,000 pesos. We each had mains of large tuna steaks that were well prepared, with 2 different sauces. Service was friendly and the waiter spoke decent English. This place did a good business of take-away. Not our favorite restaurant, but solid, and better priced than Te Moana.More

Lovely friendly service. We decided to rest here with a bowl of yum seasoned chips, a couple of beers for hubby, and a couple of Piscos for me!! Try the Pisco with Watermelon, and then maybe the Pisco with Mango. My vote is on the...Watermelon!! Enjoy!More

I stepped into Makona with my friend after reading that it was top 10 in Rapa Nui Island. I ordered grilled tuna, and unfortunately I didn't appreciate the taste. It was saltless, tasteless. Nevertheless, the waitress was very friendly. My friend said she liked her...plate (Exotic Fish), so maybe I just made a poor choice. The juice I ordered was delicious.More

This was recommended by the hostel owner on the island. I was only one of two tables occupied at the time. The waiter was very nice and suggested a local beer when I asked if there were any. Great beer. Ordered the fried shrimp to...start. Very fresh and done perfectly! Ordered the tuna steak in teriyaki for dinner, it came with rice and vegetables and was very delicious. The atmosphere was interesting being on a busy street with stray dogs all over and one man stopping and staring at another mans plate from the sidewalk. Service was extremely slow due to only one waiter serving the entire place. A few large groups arrived and he took more attention to them, obviously. It was quicker to walk in and pay vs waiting for the check. I know it’s a different country and culture, but don’t forget about the tourists too since we also write reviews. Despite this, I would definitely recommend this for dinner.make sure you check the hours since they seem sporadic.More

We ate two times in this restaurant. The food is super good specially the fish. I would recommend the exotic fish which is with mango, coconut cream and ananas. Everything is fresh. The decoration is very nice. Also the staff is very friendly.

Although you are at the main street of Hanga Roa, the terrace is nice. The food is very good and you feel a kind of home style food, delicious. Service was fast and friendly, Prices are like in other places of Rapa Nui, high as...compared with the Chilean continent, but taking into account that are in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, it's fine. Don't miss itMore

We ended up here for either a late lunch or an early dinner after checking out the main street in town. We had a delicious meal, great ceviche and a swordfish. Server was friendly. Great intro to this unique island.

I wanted to love this place too. We tried to come here at 6 pm one night. But when we arrived there were employees sitting inside and just rudely said that they were closed. When we asked when they would open again they said something...like 'maybe an hour' then continued chatting with one another. There's other great places in town to eat, we didn't bother going back.More

Excellent fish, probably one of the very best in Hanga Roa. Been there 2x in 5 days, would return again. The exotic tuna and the chef’s pescado are absolutely recommended! Nice service, reasonable prices, and great fruit juices.

One of the best restaurants in Rapa Nui. Food is delicious and they do serve abundant portions. I definitely recommend this place. The tuna served with pineapple sauce is unique!

We enjoyed a very nice meal on the amazing Easter Island, at Makona. I’d been in email communication with Alejandra for a couple of months to reserve a table for my partner’s birthday. The meal was delicious; the beers were too and we enjoyed the...relaxed atmosphere as we shared the company of other holiday makers there too. A special birthday dessert was given to us which was a nice touch. Would well recommend the restaurant and its lovely staff.More

I had my first ceviche here when I arrived on Easter Island and loved it. I have never had so much fish on my plate! Great service too. Allow 15000 pesos per dish.
