Went for family dinner ,husbands bithday so looking forward to nice steak dinner , daughter is a vegetarian , that was one of the problems. Service very slow and staff not trained in customer service, young and inexperienced. Ordered starter that 10 min later found out were not available. Steaks ordered to find out later were not available. We where... More

Absolutely appalling evening at the Stanley Arms. A local pub for my family as it's walking distance along the river with beautiful beer garden perfect for beer in the summer. However the 'restaurant' was substandard to say the least. Booked a table for 7.30pm for my Dad's birthday. Main points of our evening; -Table wasn't reserved for us and we... More

The pub is in a good area with the boat lift right on its door step. Staff very friendly. Unfortunately the food is well below par, unable to the chips due to the potatoes having all black bits in them. previous meal was ok.Waiting time from ordering food to receiving it can vary greatly. First occasion we waited 40mins second... More

We went with a walking group of about 15 and pre-ordered lunch before our walk. When we got back, the meals were all served together with no undue wait. There were no issues with the friendly and helpful service. The food was perfectly acceptable pub grub, unexceptional but reasonably priced and plentiful. On the other hand, the pint of Fullers... Arrived at 12.20 and ordered drink first, then ordered food. 50 minutes later, food arrived. I ordered a Sunday roast, it came with new and roast potatoes ,Yorkshire pudding and stuffing. The turkey came in unsliced blocks of meat, no vedges were offered and the stuffing was poor. My husband had a burger which was unseasoned, that came with a slice of... More

Went for late lunch, after visit to boat lift. The staff were excellent, second to none, nothing was too much trouble. The food was all well presented and there was plenty of it, we waited about 20 minutes but that's ok as all the food was fresh cooked. Great beer garden. Would recommend.

After a quick visit to Anderton lift we decided to find a pub for lunch. We literally drove round the corner and found the Stanley Arms. It turns out that this is only a short walk from the Anderton lift and offers a good alternative to the lift café.

We were a group of 17 people who visited the Stanley Arms after a visit to the nearby Anderton Boat Lift. We rang and booked a table so they sent menus so that some of us ordered in advance. They told us that they had a big party at 12 noon, but we would be served promptly if we arrived... More

Went for family tea Thursday early. Not many people in to eat. The staff were lovely and attentive and polite. Drinks arrived quickly. Food arrived slowly. The portions of food were huge and looked very tasty. The prices were reasonable. My chicken curry was great and the chips were terrific. The poppadums were very oily so not eaten. My son... More
