We stayed for four nights at the end of a two week trip to the UK. We had requested a ground floor room with walk in shower and were not disappointed. We had room 9, a lovely large, modern room with a large bathroom with...generous walk in shower. The room was perfect and great value. My wife is vegan and I am plant based but flexible. Almond milk and pb butter was provided for breakfast and there were plenty of other pb options. Dinner was excellent. We ended up eating in each night and the food was tasty and well presented. I strayed twice and had the fish and chips and it was extremely good. The pb risotto with charred asparagus, mint, pea and spring onion was also great and something we will try to replicate at home. The wine list was good and the service was impeccable. My only small gripe is that the menu did not change at all, even the “specials” which remained the same for all four nights. That’s the only thing that stopped me giving 5*. The staff, from manager Karen down, were exceptional and we were made to feel very welcome throughout our stay. Special thanks to Ernesto from Portugal who checked us in and looked after us at dinner and breakfast on several occasions and was the ultimate professional. Highly recommended.More

Visited here today for Father’s Day! What a wonderful meal. We are both vegan and visited with a young baby - nothing was a problem. Had a table suitable for a pram and the staff were so friendly. The food was delicious and perfectly portioned....Good choice for us plant-based people! Lovely atmosphere- we will definitely be returning. Thank-you to all staff for being so kind and accommodating.More

Our first visit here about 3 years ago was exceptional but the food we had last night was nowhere near as good. We all had the soufflé to start which had a lovely cheese sauce but the soufflé texture has slightly scrambled. The shoulder of...lamb was over complicated and I didn’t think the flavours worked well together at all. The lamb was well cooked. The fish and chips were ok. For pudding we had a cube of sticky toffee pudding (slightly ginger/cinnamon flavoured plain sponge without dates) with a very good toffee sauce and ice cream. The other pudding was a weird raspberry and pistachio concoction. Overall view of the dishes we chose was a combo of average standard pub grub (fish and chips and sticky toffee) and novelty combinations that just didn’t work. Service was generally good and they fitted us in at the last minute on a very busy night which we appreciated.More

First visited the Five Alls around a year and a half ago and to be honest wasn’t very impressed. However after meeting with some friends and deciding to come back I am so glad that we did. The food was absolutely amazing, I highly recommend...the mackerel for starters. Not only did the food taste amazing, the presentation is something you’d expect in a top restaurant. It’s obvious there is a new head chef who is doing a superb job. Only negative was the front of house team who seemed to be a bit all over the place. Will definitely be back as cannot wait to try more things from the menu.More

Let's be clear. The staff did their very best, the place is as lovely as it has been since I first visited probably ten years ago. But really. "do you want the red or white chardonnay?" come on!! Confit of duck. You can buy it...in a tin and it's invariably delicious. The lovely young chef assumed you just slow roasted it. No. It was inedible. For crying out loud this is part of a supposedly professional group of pubs. Who the hell is training these lovely young staff whose ambition is to please their customers as best they can? All I can say is that they have been seriously let down by their apparently completely incompetent senior managers. Pitty really. It's so close to home but it will be a while until I visit again.More

My wife and I have been meaning to have lunch here for a while. It did not disappoint! The double baked cheese soufflé was scrumptious, stacked with flavour and beautifully cooked. We had the confit duck leg and the buttered cod for the main courses....Both sensational. Decent portions fresh ingredients. The cod was light and superbly cooked. The Jus and the duck leg were sublime. Attentive and pleasant staff, good beer and a sensible wine list. We would highly recommend this pub for its cuisine.More

We had a stunning lunch with myself, my daughter, my husband and his mum (who is in her 80s). We had a wonderful meal. Full Sunday roasts with all the trimmings and I had a perfectly cooked fish & chips. It was all served well...and presented beautifully. There was a great choice of drinks and the staff were really attentive. They welcomed our dog and offered water bowl for her too. Will be back again. Big thanks to Nick, the new Deputy GM. We wish you all the best and thank for looking after us and granny.More

Such yummy food, thank you. Very friendly waitress. But frustratingly slow - I’m hoping there’s a good reason, like Brexit meaning lack of staff? In which case I sympathise, but it’s very high prices for such slow service.

We visited The Five Alls on Friday lunchtime for my husband’s birthday lunch with family. We had a fabulous time. It’s a beautiful pub with stylish decor, great ambience and excellent service - 5 star! The person who looked after us was lovely, welcoming and...so, so helpful. We were shown to the sofas in front of the roaring fire and had a lovely relaxing start to our celebration with drinks whilst we chatted and studied the menu. We stayed there until just before our food was ready. There was no rush to order or be seated. There’s an excellent choice of food and everybody loved what they ordered, it was absolutely delicious. My husband had the burger which was very good and my roasted cod loin was cooked to perfection. Highlight was the cheese soufflé. We are looking forward to returning in the future. Thank you.More

We had hoped with the new ownership the food and service would have improved. We were disappointed to find that it had not. Burgers tasted pre-made and dense, fries oily, cottage pie looked a grey sludge. Really disappointed.

I had a good meal, as usual on 30 Jan, but spoiled by the table next to me in the dining area bringing three dogs, one of which was placed at my feet on its own blanket. I would have preferred to have been asked...by the dogs owners or the waiters, and I would have politely stated my preference. Yet the five alls website says dogs NOT permitted in the dining area. I emailed info@fiveallsfilkins to request clarification on their dog policy for future reference and the email bounced. I emailed reservations. Ditto bounced. I emailed the parent company and so far have had no reply. It’s not the biggest issue in the world, I just prefer not eating my dinner with other peoples dogs. I’ve eaten at the five alls 2 or 3 times a year for the last 10 years or so, and always enjoyed the experience.More

This pub with accommodation stands out for its friendly staff, cosy atmosphere and good, wholesome food. I stayed for over 3 weeks as I was working nearby and the rooms were warm, spacious, clean and well appointed. I stayed in the garden rooms out the...back of the main building and these are just a few years old and very warm. Breakfast has great variety of traditional with some delicious modern dishes like smashed avocado with chilli & feta on toast. Evening meals ate just as good, with pub classics and more. Steaks are very good, the veggie options are tasty, and the fish and chips are epic.More

Spacious restaurant with good service. Food was good and everyone enjoyed their food. I had fish and chips which was delicious! Think they had a problem with the heating as it was cold in the room, but we all warmed up once the food arrived!...Great eveningMore
