Last week I was up staying in the Glencoe and exploring the area. Decided to drive to Mallaig. Was going to stop at the Glenfinnan Monument but car park was full. Needed food and saw sign for the Dining Car. What an amazing experience!!! Was able to get a table and the service was excellent. The menu was great and... More

Prior to going on the viaduct trail, had a quick sandwich and coffee here which was tasty and not too expensive. They also serve toasties and soup too.

Very nice sandwiches and soups, the inside is very well maintained, comfortable and cozy. Nice even with rain outside and close to a nice viewpoint for the other glenfinnan attractions. Much better than the visitor center...

The seating and... More

The Dining Car provided a nice "excursion" for lunch with our family. Among us we had the daily soup (lentil) and toasties (cheddar, tomato, and red onion was the best one we thought) and scones. Nice, ample salad came with the sandwiches. Overall, a good value and a sweet little restaurant.

This place was recommended by Jim, the host/pilot/captain of out tour boat on Loch Shiel. Weren't we glad he did! What a lovely change to sit in a real old fashioned and authentic railway carriage. Very good food, even though we only had tea and snacks. All the other customers present were very complimentary about what they were eating as... More
