This Michelin starred restaurant has clearly earned its stripes and is listed among the "Worlds 50 best restaurants". Young chef Alajmo has a clear and delicate style, with attention to detail and a flair for the theatrical. Each dish is seerved in a different plate,...glass or other container, which in and of itself is a great topic for conversation. The flavors are well-achieved and memorable. Service is delicate and discrete. The wine list is superb and expertly handled and served. All three stars are well deserved.More

Warm, refined, simple, tasteful, innovative, well studied, intimate, unforgettable, unique. Large variety of bottles and staff really well prepared and polite.

It is many years since we went to Le Calandre. The layout and décor of the restaurant has changed substantially and the Alajmo empire has expanded substantially since we were last there. We were greeted well and sat at a large table for two in...the smaller of the two dining rooms. There is a phalanx of young staff all friendly with very good English who explained all the dishes in detail. There are three tasting menus at dinner and we opted for "Raf" at 250 Euros for twelve beautifully crafted courses. To us everything was perfect, we were certainly not hungry at the end of the meal and everything we would expect from a three star Michelin restaurant was there. As wine industry people we tend not to go for wine pairings and always feel you get far better value for money making your own selection. The wine list was in iPad form and was stunning. Not cheap but if you look carefully you do not need to break the bank. The lovely young lady sommelier was extremely knowledgeable and her recommendation was good. Total bill came to 567 Euros which is "par for the course" these days. We would certainly go back if in the area once again.More

We had the most expensive option -complete tasting menu with wine pairing 740 euros. I am 5’5 120 lbs not a large person traveling with my adult daughter who plans her vacations to experience the newest and best restaurants available worldwide. We have shared the...most amazing food, both in flavor and presentation in the past. Le Calandre was disappointing. The presentations were nice but nothing special. Most importantly - I finished the tasting course hungry. I ordered an extra dessert (an overly dry spongecake with gelato - the cake was not good, which I made clear to the waiter) and then a second scoop of gelato because I needed more food. Those two desserts, which were basically just the two scoops of chocolate gelato, cost an extra 50 euros.More

Three weeks ago, I had the pleasure of returning to Le Calandre and, like the previous time: love it. The food was delicious and imaginative and the service could not have been any better. Every dish was delicious and imaginative. The restaurant is well worth...a side trip to Rubano. Can not wait to return. JorgeSMore

This was an absolute miss. Was headed to Venice so added a stop over in Rubano. Had I gone here specifically to dine I'd be even more disappointed. All dishes were average. And one was ruined - an excellent risotto that has amazing sweet raw...langoustine by unneccesarily adding chewy bitter clams? Ruined the dish. And the experience. At this price wouldn’t you expect perfection? Perfectly balanced texture and taste should be a given, right? Hype! This isn’t top 50. No way! The final straw was being solicited for a tip - something that has never happened before in a Michelin Starred kitchen before. Sometimes you don’t get what you pay for.More

We were the quest of La Calandre in May 2019. We visited many restaurants from the list of Top50 restaurants of the World - Modena, Bangkok, Lima and others. We have a winner for the worst of them. Unfortunately. The service in the restaurant was...perfect and it should be emphasized, but this culinary experience is what we come to places like La Calandre. The food was poor and very poorly presented for a restaurant of such a high standard. Look at the photos i took and evaluate objectively whether food is served in restaurants with a Michelin star(s) ??? Seriously ? Cuttlefish cappuccino was ok, interesting consistency and taste. The whole of our experience is unfortunately a failure and that's it. I do not recommend La Calandre, but it does not matter anyway because the tables are always full. Let it be that way.More

We had lunch at Le Calandre, and there were 3 other tables filled. The staff were fabulous throughout the meal. The dining area is a bit dark, with some members of our party having trouble reading the menu. We went for the 11 course tasting...menu, which took about 2.5 hours. All of the food was excellent and they had a fabulous vegetarian tasting menu with similar dishes. The chef has creative ways of plating dishes, some of which make you have to think before you can eat.More

A few of my food industry counterparts extended our meetings in Bologna in mid-November, 2018 and ventured to Padua for a lunch at LeCalandre, recommended to us by Faith Willinger. To say it was an heavenly experience is an understatement. Chef Alamo create a custom...menu based on the three menus offered, but he came out to visit with us three times during service (and that is RARE for a chef of his caliber). The service was impeccable as every dish was clearly explained (with many questions answered) and there was a thoughtful progression over the 13 courses. The pace of service/wine pairing was on point as well. As for the food, words cannot express how inventive, smart yet still approachable it was. There were no extra ingredients on the plate, nor anything that was missing. Additionally, every vessel/serving piece was thoughtful for the course. I will be back when my husband and I vacation in Italy later this year. Bravo Chef Alamo and staff. There is little doubt in my mind you will be recognized as the #1 Chef in the world.More
