We went for lunch at Varanda da Regua. It had been raining the entire morning, so the view was a bit foggy, but nice anyhow - I can imagine that it must be fantastic in sunny days! The atmosphere inside is very kitsch, but the view out of the window compensates for it. As starter, we asked for 'bolinho de... More

This three-story restaurant serves well-prepared, traditional Portuguese food in a nice dining room at very reasonable prices. From its perch high on a hillside, the aptly named restaurant overlooks verdant vineyards, the town of Peso da Regua, and the beautiful Douro River. Our waiter was extremely nice, but he spoke no English and my husband and I don't speak Portuguese,... More

Loved our dinner here. Had some delicious veal ribs with starter, dessert and a nice bottle of red and spent less than 40 euros! What more could you ask for?

If you are staying up on the mountain this is a good place to eat. they have a good bar and good simple local food dishes. We had veal with mushrooms, a large tomato salad and mellon with prosciutto and glasses of a good value local red wine.

A Portuguese friend of ours recommended this restaurant, and as we were going to Regua anyway, we decided we must try it. It is off the tourist track and not so easy to find ,but fortunately our taxi driver knew about it . It is about 15 minutes drive,up the mountain from the town of Regua, but what a view once... More

This restaurant was a big disappointment to us. We both ordered fish. My friends bacalau came with roasted potatoes, drowned in melted butter. My trout was very small with lots of bones, boiled potatoes and no sauce. The waitress was sweet enough but slow, we waited for over 30 mins. The desserts were made in advance and placed in a...
