What a wonderful setting, people and food. We where on holiday with the family 2 children of 10 an 5. And most of the time it’s not easy to find an restaurant where they like the food and the setting. In this case it was perfect. You choose your dish, choose a table, take some salad and bread (included in the price) afterwards they bring your main course to the table. We will come back.

I highly recommend this place. The food is delicious and the service was superb and very friendly. We arrived very early but we were welcomed inside and they they all made an effort to serve us quickly which was amazing given that we inconvenience them. The place is also cosy and in a great location.

Best place for a meal in Filipstad and surroundings. View is incredible. The food is very tasty and good priced. Great service. And the cakes/cookies Kalles mother makes are the best. They also serve very a good glass of wine. If you are there in the summer they have a great outdoor space to eat. But in winter it is nice and cozy inside. I try to come here as often as I can. Feels a little bit like home.

The title may have thrown you off track and thought this was going to be a bad review.
I have driven past the road to this restaurant many times and always intended to visit one day.
Today was that day, superb in many ways, view, location, cleanliness, food, service, price..
A true hidden gem....

This is as far you can come from a road lunch. The road to the restaurant (gravel) made us hesitate, but the meal was super and well worth the short bumby detour.

Make the effort. Go up the hill. Cozy place, friendly and welcoming staff, normal lunch price, tasty meat alternatives and a great veggie dish. (We didn’t try the fish.)

During our 2-week holiday close to Filipstad, we ate at the Big Hill Lodge several times, as it's a really nice place and the food was superb, too. Towards the evening the atmosphere on the hill and in the restaurant's garden is especially nice, so check their website to see when on which days they open for dinner!

This little hidden treasure is amazing for a great view and coffee or a stop for a bite to eat. The food was amazing and the welcoming from the staff was exceptional. I love the warm Sweden country atmosphere and welcoming by the owner as much as I love to have this view during some hours of work.
Make sure to stop here while you driving by!

I can really recommend Big Hill Lodge! Good food and very friendly owners. We arrived with three hungry children a few minutes after lunch hours, but we were served a great lunch. Will for sure stop by again when we pass!

Travelling hungry, tired and with a crying baby we were ready to settle for first thing that came up along the road. When the signs for this place showed up we made a quick decision to give it a shot... and what an awesome suprise!
Welcoming, stylish place with fantastic food and views. 119 SEK for an absolutely delicious lunch (incl. salad, bread, beverage and coffee). There are also lighter food items and plenty of cookies and buns. For families with small children there is a very clean restroom with changing table and baby chairs. Baby loved the mash and was happy rest of the trip 👍 DO NOT PASS THIS PLACE BY!

Don’t miss this place!!! Gorgeous little forrest restaurant with all the quant quirkiness you want.... wood carved trolls greating you at the entrance, surrounded by cute shacks you can rent and all the nature and wonderful scenery you could ask for. Stepping inside you’re met by genuine furniture with a modern touch around the ordering bar and coffee station.
In addition, the owners and staff are so friendly and the food is delicious!!! It’s a place either just for the two of you, or for the whole family.

Great lunch.. tasty and hearty portions. Nice staff, nice view.. Good salad was included in the price even cake after the meal. The cake was homemade!!
