Today we took advantage of the Reuben special and it was fantastic. Have really missed having a good Reuben but Monica puts out a fantastic one. Looking forward to more in the future. And we have always loved their specials..

Thanks so much for your nice review. Yes, we ran a special to remind locals about the items on the menu that are unique to our restaurant. The Reuben is one of them. We just got a new shipment of beef and it is now brining for the next batch of Reubens and Corned Beef Hash. And yes, we are... More

Caballo Negro should be in the top 10 restaurants in Costa Rica. I have been there several times and have never been disappointed. The Corn Beef is my personal favorite. They also have a wonderful shop featuring local artists... Take time to visit and enjoy.

Wow...top ten would put us in some really good company. Thanks for the compliment. The corned beef is made from scratch and brined, cooked, etc. to make both the Corned Beef Hash (which is a favorite). and the Reuben with potatoes (another favorite) Please come back and see us again. We had visited the connected gift shop, The Lady Bug, the day before and were impressed with the beautiful artistry and amazing location overlooking a small pond with beautiful gardens. When we heard that German food was on the menu we decided to return to the restaurant the next day(we had just eaten and were souvenir shopping). My husband and... More

Wonderful German cuisine served here. The Rueben of course my favorite but then Corned beef hash is a close second! The potatoes are delicious and the salads are fresh!

Thanks so much for the nice review. We make our corned beef from scratch, so you know it has been made locally, and not purchased already brined. The Corned Beef Hash AND the Reuben sandwich with potatoes are two of our most popular offerings. We hope to see you again. Pura Vida More

While we drove from Arenal to Monteverde we stumbled into the Lucky Bug. It has a fabulous setting, a great souvenir shop and excellent food. The owners are extremely friendly. This is great place to have a meal and do some shopping (though I am sure the B&B is great as well).

Hola, Thanks for your nice review. We had this moved to our restaurant site, instead of the B&B because you were actually reviewing the restaurant and not staying with us. Yes, we are known for our food, and some people are disappointed that we are no longer open for dinner. We do make some of the best breakfasts and lunches... More

Once again Monika and Rob presented a first rate dinner. Between the home corned beef (you can't just pick up a brisket at the super-market in Costa Rica), the Irish soda bread, perfectly prepared cabbage and potatos there was nothing missing from this delightful dinner. The only thing that kept me from 'seconds' was the amount of 'firsts'. FANTASTIC! again.... More

We saw the Lady Bug B&B sign on our way to Arenal Volcano and decided to stop for a coffee on the way back. Owner Monika was very engaging and has built a nice business here. Description
Our restaurant is a favorite for locals and travelers alike. We have great breakfasts, which include Huevos Rancheros, and homemade Corned Beef Hash with corned beef made from scratch by the owner and chef, Monika.
Because of Monika's German heritage, she also makes delicious schintzels also, from a family recipe.
And if you save room for dessert, Apple Strudel is usually always available.
There is inside seating and also patio seating overlooking the rest of the property, with views of Monika's private lake, her residence, and the Lucky Bug Bed and Breakfast. Plenty of birds to see, and has been called a birder's paradise.
