Very friendly personnel, nice view over the park. Some African dishes and kid friendly alternatives. Nice after museum visit.

I wanted a quick meal but when I passes by, I realised that I could not miss this place. Saw people eating steak and scampi but I opted for something more African: the chiken moambe. It was delicious, the chicken was very tender and I...could cut it with the fork, the sause was tasteful too and mixed with the rice was exceptional. As dessert I took the gourmet coffee, that was made by some macarons, a apple pie slice and other sweets... No regrets at allMore
The gardens Bistro Tembo is based in make for lovely views from the restaurant. We had two very friendly waiters serving our large table. The restaurant is spacious, the 3 kids loved being able to walk around in the wide hallway while we could continue...to enjoy our all-included brunch. We will return!More
Food was very nice but starter and main dish were both cold and I wasn’t the only one on my table complaining about this. Pitty because good quality food and the view is very nice. But for this price I expected a little more.
What lifts this restaurant at an attraction a bit above the ordinary is the setting with views through floor to ceiling windows of the lovely park
Great views good freshly made salads and ok service. We enjoyed lunch at Tembo. Good salads, croquettes were ok too
Rude waiting staff who don't write down your order (this appears to be a common thing in Belgium, some sort of macho ritual perhaps), and then shrug their shoulders when your order isn't acted on. When the food did come the order was incomplete but...we were still charged the full price. Understaffed - long queues despite empty tables because too few staff. Just terrible.More
Had the afternoon tea menu and ordered a meat and cheese platter with drinks. Drinks came quickly, food didn't and like many other reviews we watched others receive theirs. I asked and was told that the food would arrive at once. It did not and...when it did came with no bread. I complained but nothing was taken from the bill. Appallingly slow service. This wonderful setting really deserves better.More
Bistro Tembo has marvelous potential: located in a new and architecturally interesting building, with amazing views on the museum and the park, and benefiting from a modern and well decorated interior. But the place is managed by Lunch Garden and the food is worse than...in most canteens. Even though the staff is helpful and friendly, the overall atmosphere is dull. The whole place is just wasted potential.More
Excellent food, excellent service, excellent ambiance. However I only put 3 stars, because unfortunately they have an automatic system that lowers the grey blinds over the windows every few minutes, which hides the beautiful view of the surrounding gardens and makes the room really dark...and gloomy. The staff said nothing could be done about it…More
Overall Bistro Tembo has all the hardware to be a charming place to dine in, or to have a relaxing afternoon tea, I went on 30 July (quite hot that afternoon) for an afternoon tea, the air conditioning was not sufficient. I ordered Pain Perdu...(french toast) and cold beverages, the food was tasty, the service was quick, even though not many waiters/waitresses were around. A remark though : disappointingly the tables and chairs are plastic, which are not comfortable nor matching the lovely view somehow!!More
Pro: Nice view over the park of Tervuren from one side of the restaurant, Convenient if you want to eat after your visit at the museum of Africa Con: Waiting queue Slow service Food is average at best Only a couple of African dish on...the menue Large window shades can obscure any view of the park. Conclusion: there are many restaurants, available in Tervuren, just 5 minutes away walking trough the park, with much better food and fastest service.More
Ate here twice - both in the month of June. First time was for lunch - it was busy but both the food and the service was great so we booked again for a special occasion with family for dinner later that month. So, so...disappointed. It wasn’t even half full so I don’t understand why the service and food was under par. We ordered starters and waited....and waited... others seated and go theirs and was just about to say something when food arrived - but it was our main course. Got taken back to kitchen while we waited again for starters and then the SAME dishes came back out over half an hour later (after we had eaten starters) and we know this as the only thing that was warm was the salad, every thing else was cold and had developed a skin. We complained and asked for the dishes to be remade (more waiting) which they did but unfortunately, one dish didn’t come with the accompanying ingredients stated on the menu despite us asking for them and the steak wasn’t cooked as requested. We didn’t get an apology, in fact the waiter said we were just annoyed as they had forgotten our starters! Unacceptable. Said waiter then avoided us for the rest of the evening and another waiter looked after us, did apologise and offered us 20% off the bill. A shame as a lovely setting and a bit different for Tervuren.More
Worst service in tervuren! If you want a 30min wait for service, this is your place. Been several times, hoped the dreadful service service was a teething problem after opening initially, but no - it’s definitely a permanent issue & has even got worse!! Waited...forever just for a table (despite being first on queue & plenty empty tables), then asked on average twice each time we wanted to order, and for bill. Staff actually took away 2 seats when husband and daughter when to the bathroom, didn’t even ask!! We had to go and retrieve. Clearly over worked, under staffed. Amazing view and location, totally let down by service and ability to manage the place.More
Poor service by untrained waiters. Definitely will not return to Tembo. 16Euros for a Mc Donald hamburger!!!
