Had quite a good meal here but the staff were pushed so overall, an average experience. Might give it a miss next time preferring The Walton Pub on the main road.

When I say old, I mean old. They were celebrating their 400 anniversary when we went there. As well as the cosy atmosphere, the staff were very amenable and the food outstanding. Added to the usual menu, there were some interesting dishes on offer as part of the celebrations. The meals were freshly prepared and freshly cooked and were delicious.... More

Stopped by over the weekend for a quick fish and chips tea and was very impressed. Admittedly I hadn't visited the Hob Inn for a good few years, but I won't be leaving it anywhere near as long for the next one. After a busy day it was lovely just to sit and have a great meal in a cosy... More

We went to for walk with pooch, after a quick visit to St Saviours on Saturday, we popped in for quick drink. Now whilst we have eaten here previously, today must be noted as a great hydration stop. Ice cold Heineken, pint Hob Inn ale and a bowl of water for pooch. They do let dogs in which is great.... More

We came here this evening for a meal after travelling down from Fife in Scotland. There were 4 adults and an infant in the party. The lady who served us was outstanding. She noticed the wee boy was getting grumpy so she took the order for his food first and it came out quickly. She also brought an iPad with... More

Once again we visited here and we were blown away with the food! The specials are awesome and original every week! This week we loved the Plaice and King prawns with lemon butter. It was delicious. The Cidey Pig was also heaven on a plate. Between the awesome service and mind blowing food, there is literally no where else around... More

Food was very poor quality and the staff never bothered to ask if all was okay .The lamb shank was dry and the parsnip not cooked properly .The sandwich bread was not fresh and this was covered up by lashings of not very nice tasting margarine. Even when we left there was not even a thank you or recognition of... More

We visited one Sunday afternoon, last minute so didn't book. Although the restaurant was full (private party), we managed to sit in the bar area and have our meal. I have been going to Ye Olde Hob Inn for years and it's a lovely old building, full of character. James and the staff are really polite and the service is... More
