I am from the United States, however, the owner of the cafe provided smoothies and chocolates during a Kyoto Yoga Teacher Training Retreat that I attended a few months ago. Each day we had a completely different flavor of a beautifully delicious smoothie that was made from fruits or vegetables! Her creativity and passion for good tasting, healthy food is obvious when you talk to her about her food and the quality ingredients she uses! While I did not visit her cafe, I intend to next time I am in Japan. I would highly recommend visiting her to try her chocolates as well!

A cake plate was full of gems!!
It came with today’s cake, homemade granolas and ice cream and seasonal fruits. Everything was dedicatedly terrific!! I ordered hot cacao tea as well. The smell firstly whipped me up much and the taste also completely blew me away!
Both should be worth trying. My bestie isn’t vegan but she adored all and wants to go back to try others!
Beyond that, ethical and environmental consciousness of the owner is one of significant points.
We totally enjoyed talking with her a lot. She highly encourages us to bring our own containers and bottles for takeaway, which is still difficult to do in Japan.
Without a further ado, can’t recommend you enough!

I was rather skeptical initially as I am not a vegan, but I was blown away by their Acai bowl. It was not only visually pleasing, the taste was amazing. It was served cold. You also have to try their chocolate cake as is hand made and not found elsewhere. The owner is a very friendly lady and the shop is tucked away from the bustling street. It is rather hidden but if you are a vegan, you will love it, even if you are not, you will find the desserts good.

Beautiful place, very nice and kind owner her name Rie. So delicious chocolate and cacao shaks and more..
Everything is vegan and so testy and esthetic.

日本でローチョコ＆ローケーキの専門店って珍しくないですか？
他にもヘルシーなメニューいっぱいです。
グラノーラやスムージーなど。
私はローチョコとローケーキのプレートを頂きました。
プレートはアートの様に美しくバジルとペッパーのアイス付き。
綺麗な日本的なお庭を眺めながら、、、
ケーキのサイズはジャパニーズサイズでないですよ。
オーナーの方はECOに取り組んでいらっしゃる様子が店内から感じられたこと良かったです。量り売りもされています。
素敵な時間を特別な雰囲気のデトックスカフェでどうぞ！
I've been to detox cafe. The menu is vegan and use many super food. The owner is thinks nutrition & zero waste, too. trying not to use bad for earth. I had a dessert plate. it was nice plating. raw cake & raw ice cream. cake was vanilla & lemon I never had before. size is not small. raw ice was basil & black pepper. wonderful taste. Raw chocolate are simple but, one is really satisfied. If you miss granola you must go. The garden is authentic Japanese. take off shoes. You will love it. Highly recommended!!

We saw this place online and decide we had to come. I was blown away by the cake set. This was also our first time having kombucha since moving to Japan. You must come here if you’re in Hikone.

If you are in the area, you must go here. Has a great selection of raw vegan smoothies, cake, chocolates, and kombucha. The owner is very friendly and speaks English.

Rie's Cafe is absolutely cozy and I felt comfortable immediatley. You have a nice view on the green garden while you are listening to very relaxing music. But of course, the best are the vegan food and drinks. Everything tastes totally natural and and is just good! It will make you feel happy :-)

I appreciate you stopping by my vegan cafe near Osaka. Thanks for trying my vegan food and drinks. As you said, everything in my cafe is totally natural and good. Whether you are a vegan, vegetarian or just health conscious, Hikone is a good place to drop by for raw chocolate, vegan cakes and of course to experience 'old Japan'. We traveled half of the world to discover place like this. It is amazing and authentic samurai house. When we were sitting inside and looking at the garden we could feel like moving 200 years back in time. Quiet, peaceful without tons of tourists like in Kyoto. We tried some raw chocolate and chocolate tea. Both were tasty and full of flavors. But most importantly Rie, the owner, explained us all nutritional values of raw chocolate, its origin, and the process of preparation. After this visit we became raw chocolate lovers. This super-food can change your mind. Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to review my vegan & vegetarian cafe near Osaka. I hope I scratched the surface in presenting you with some of the health and wellness benefits of raw chocolate -- science still hasn't revealed all of them! I hope you continue discovering raw food and vegan cuisine as you travel the world :)

Last Day, I planned to give some chocolates for my friends as Valentine's DAY,
Rie(the owner of this shop) is very kind to wrap some chocolates in a lovely package, and chocolates were soooo lovely, as well.
Of course, taste is Marvelous.
Shop is in the area of SAMURAI HOUSE（ASHIGARU YASHIKI）
we can feel Japanese lifestyle atmosphere in it.
I'd love to go again!

落ち着いた感じのいい雰囲気のお店。また、彦根ではまだ数の少ないオーガニックやヴィーガンを意識した店なので、ありがたいです。
まだチョコレートの購入だけでの利用しかしてないのですが、欲を言えば、季節の野菜や果実などを使ったチョコレートをもっと揃えてほしいな、と思いました。（もしかしたらたまたま売り切れてたのか、たまたまその日は販売してなかっただけかもしれませんが…）
次回は是非カフェとしての利用をしたいです。
This place has nice Japanese atmosphere. And it's a one of a few shops which have vegan & organic products. It's appreciated for me.
If I can say one request, I want this shop to make more products which include seasonal vegetables or fruits. ( It's possible that just I couldn't find it at the day I visited. )
I really want to visit there as a cafeteria next time.

Please try raw chocolate cake, it is very creamy and tasty:) the cafe is in the old Japanese house which has a beautiful garden!

Nao, you are right that Hareto-Keto has a beautiful Japanese garden. We are also planning to improve the garden by possibly adding a pond with fish or turtles. So much to do, so little time!

This cafe was renovated from an old foot soldier's mansion, and I enjoyed a plate of raw cake and hot chocolate while looking out at the garden. The cake was very carefully made and was refreshingly delicious, and the hot chocolate was not too sweet, so it went well with the cake.
