One of Puerto Rico's favorite starch foods is the Platano (green plantain) and it is cooked/prepared in a zillion different ways around the island. This relaxed country-style restaurant is no exception to the rule and prepares the platano in many creative dishes. My favorite is...the Mofongo, drenched with shrimp and a garlic sauce that will make you lick your fingers.More
Went with my son and wife and ordered "MONTE ISLEÑO".These are two snappers and "mofongo" stuffed with churrasco. My son loves rice and beans with chicken strips. The best snappers I have eaten in a long time. Our waiter KALINA very good.I recommend it to all. Some people don't...know it is open but it is OPEN.More
Stoped on our way to Cabo Rojo because it was recommended to us. The place looks. Ive on top of a hill with a nice view. The waitress came after a few minutes and took our order. The place was half empty. We got our...food an hour after ordering. I complained with the person in charge and she said there was a big group ahead of us so I am thinking that if you go on a day where it is more crowded you may get your food after 2 hours. Mofongo was good, but not worth the wait.More
Been here before and we know you usually have to wait a reasonable amount of time for the food. Today we decided to bring good friends for the first time, after having a great day at a local flowers festival. Needless to say it has...been two hours and not even the appetizers or drinks we ordered have been brought to our table. Twice my wife had talked to the waiter and he is completely ashamed and not even know what to say. Don't get me wrong, the food usually is excellent, but today the service is awful. Never happened this to us before. We had to begged for them to bring the food to one of the kids that was getting sleepy for the long wait. Two an a half hours later decided to leave and cancel the orders. The waiter begged us to wait five more minutes and then most of the food started to show to our table. Most of our friends complained the food it not even warm. We, that brought our friends here, are completely ashamed with them. My wife cancelled our order. Talked to the head waiter asking for the manager. He or she never showed. When we asked for the check the waiter brought my wife and me what we order. We returned it and the waiter decided to pack it and not charge us of for it. I not even know if I want to return in the future or bring friends or family again. Sorry but this was our experience.More
Nice big restaurant on top of a hill with beautiful all around views. We went on a Thursday and the daily special was an amazing value. It was fresh Chillo fish, mofongo and salad. It was only $8.99. Nowhere in the metropolitan area would you...find that dish at that price. The food was delicious and the service was very good as well. On top of all that the Mojitos were 2 for $4! I loved the experience and recommend it.More
Waited to be seated and nobody came, they passed us by and every waitress ignored us. When we asked someone sat us, we waited more than 20 min and nobody came, tables sat later were ordering before us.
We ended up leaving and nobody asked.
A bit redundant as this restaurant El Platanar is in a plantain plantation high up overlooking over a thousand or so plantain plants. All their fare is very good, Authentic Puerto Rican dishes and surprisingly huge servings- no skimping here, Plenty of take-home. Quickly becoming...our families favorite restaurant with awesome plantain deserts that takes two to finish.More
Menu is the common Puerto Rican Mofongo, sea food and fried pork that can be found almost everywhere in the island. Food flavor and presentation was good. Only problem here was service. Not enough waiters or waitresses to take care of such a large place....We were asked for our orders in about 25 minutes after we were seated. After we got our drinks we waited another 35 minutes for our food to arrive. We were close to leave and not eat there. Again food was good but I am no going back because the service. You can find same menu and quality somewhere else on a more timely manner.More
