About
The "Farol" is a century-old restaurant, the oldest in Setubal and is known for good beer and good seafood, from their own aquariums. With a cozy atmosphere and a great ''Tejo'' river and Lisbon's view, it's a great place to be.The name "Farol" came from the lighthouse's existence in Cacilhas who once helped navigation of small boats, called "Cacilheiros".Cacilheiros are an easy transport to lots of people in Lisbon to the other side of the Tagus river. You can combine the great tour with the excelence to be able to lunch or dinner in Cacilhas and taste our fish or seafood.

We really enjoyed the seafood platter we had. The waiters were friendly. Only the restaurant itself feels a bit like a trainstation restaurant but overall well worth taking the ferry

Squalid environment, bad service, hideous food, frozen fish passed off as fresh; but what botherd me about more is that they tryed to sell "astice" for lobster, than they showed me the crustaceans alive, but they served me some frozen, at an exorbitant price. In...addition, the hurbis, the villainy and rudness of the managers make it one of the place ABSOLUTELY TO AVOID!!!More

This is such a special seafood restaurant, and worth the trip! You take an inexpensive commuter ferry from Lisbon and in 10 mins you're on Calcilhas Island. Walk around, see the water, submarine, ship, and then enjoy a fabulous seafood extravaganza at Farol. We did!...Freshest fish every, prepared simply, piping hotel and just delicious. The vegetable soup and seafood bisque were great too, as were the wine and beers. Very friendly, warm environment, and great care from our waiter.More

We stopped here for lunch based on the recommendation of our tour guide. It is located right by the ferry, to the right as you get off the boat. We each had fish and enjoyed our dishes. The views are beautiful and our waiter Jay...was absolutely delightful. We really enjoyed chatting with him.More

We found this restaurant by chance - it’s really close to the ferry terminal at Cacilhas. We had a fabulous late lunch. Between us we had fish, steak and veal and all were good and more than we could eat. It’s very popular with a...lively atmosphere and you sit in long rows close to other people - maybe not one for a romantic meal for two but great fun for a family. It’s fun to get the ferry over from Lisbon and from the restaurant you can see the ferries arriving and departing.More

We came here for a late lunch. The place is very close to the ferry pier. The food was excellent. We shared a seafood stew in a tomato broth over rice that contained bay shrimp, mussels, crab & a few head-on shrimp. Everything tasted great....Service was prompt & friendly too.More

We came to this restaurant for lunch as part of an Urban Experiences tour, so our guide had booked a table and ordered the food for us. We thoroughly enjoyed the seafood and rice dish, with crusty bread and wine. It was both tasty and...hot. The restaurant was very busy, with lots of locals in there, which I think is a good sign. The toilets were clean. The trip across the Tagus river, added to the experience.More

We ordered octopus fillets with octopus rice and octopus in olive oil. The latter octopus was semi burned, and the coriander made everything taste like soap. The potatoes tasted the best. To me the waiter didn't seem genuinely kind. We took the boat just to...come to this restaurant. What a disappointment to say the least.More

This place looks very ordinary from the outside but the food is fantastic. We had a mixed seafood platter which was exceptional. Plenty of locals were eating there, which is always a good sign and the waiter was very attentive. There was an obvious language...barrier so we communicated mainly through gestures but that was no bad thing. You can taste the freshness of the food and it was worth every cent.More

A reservation is always recommended. The price level is medium. If you choose the lobster, it will of course be more expensive. Calculate with approx. 40€ per person.
