Lovely 'local' restaurant in Ashton Village - easy 15 minute walk from Sale centre... and WELL worth the walk! Main menu and 'early bird' set price menu to choose from. We both wanted at least three choices for each course. Starters: Lamb flatbread with hummus and frost sausage with cabbage and bacon - shared - both really tasty. Skate wing... More

Having visited here a few times I have always meant to leave a glowing review but on this occasion I felt compelled to. In all my visits I have been very impressed by the quality of service and food and last night was no exception. Despite being a busy Saturday night the standards were just as high as always and... This is a small, local and extremely friendly restaurant that goes out of its way to make people feel welcome and also serves exceptional food. We're very lucky to have it in our little village.

11th June visit. We are staying in a lovely bed and breakfast just up the road from Ashton on Mersey, and had asked the owners for recommendations for somewhere to eat locally, the fat loaf was there number 1 recommendation so off we set. First impressions were a little surprising, with the restaurant sitting in a small parade of village... More

We went on a Wednesday night so probably a bit slower than Fri/Sat. The ambiance was lovely, local artwork on the walls, not too rammed but busy enough to know it's good. Service was great, relaxed, friendly. Cutlery was good quality (I have OCD about good cutlery) and toilets were clean and modern (I hate it when a restaurant scrimps... More

We have eaten here on several occasions over the last few years. It is a lovely restaurant, fun and relaxed atmosphere, the staff are great and it is nice to see the open kitchen. The menu changes regularly, there is always a good choice and the standard is always high. Not quite fine dining but not far off. Sensible pricing... More

16 April 2016, Saturday night, (best to book, TFL is invariably busy), just the two of us out for the evening. Warm welcome & great service from Teresa throughout. Lively & fun atmosphere all evening. Starter of Pig's cheeks for me - OMG, melt in the mouth gorgeousness with a nice subtle kick from the ginger. Main was Duck, which... More

The Fat Loaf restaurant in Sale is an absolute find and a local favourite. The brainchild of chefs Paul Taylor and Tim Wood who trained under Michelin-starred Marco Pierre White at the Lowry, The Fat Loaf is a brilliant bistro. The open kitchen lets you watch them work. Sourcing is taken seriously – local wherever possible, excellent at all times. The menu is modern European prepared with imagination and flair. It’s perfectly set in a storefront restaurant with slate floors, white chairs, neutrally coloured walls and an array of art photography on display. Formerly a bring-your-own-wine place, The Fat Loaf now offers a short, thoughtful, international wines list at prices so reasonable you’ll have to blink
