This family-run restaurant is contemporary, upscale, and simple Japanese style. Behind the bar is a young man who prepares Tempura with balletic moves and delivers exquisite flavors. The menu is limited; but more could you need but delicious Tempura and rice? The Tempura sauce is...incomparable! In short, we loved our meal and ambience!More

Being well aware fried food is not good for health, we couldn't fight the strong urge to indulge ourselves. It is a Tatami style Tempura restaurant with table seating and five seats at the counter where you can see the chef doing his thing. If...you get to sit at a table you have to open your shoes to sit. So make sure you are wearing clean socks without holes. God help you if you suffer from smelly feet. Anyway, tempura was actually introduced in the 16th century by the Portuguese in Nagasaki. Lightly battered, deep fried vegetables, shrimp and fish are individually seasoned and served on a bowl of rice ~ called Tendon (not the cartilage) The ingredients were fried to perfection & the chef added just the right amount of seasoning and sweet and savory sauce. Absolutely well balanced and sumptuous. The magnificent view of the giant floating red torii while eating, further enhanced the dining experience. A must visit if you are on the island of Miyajima.More

This place deserve much more reviews. I had tempura for 1500. It had 2 shrimps and a lot of fried vegetables. It was very delicious. The miso soup was also really good. Rice could have been a bit better maybe. 1 downside is that the...place looked like if it was closed. We wanted to try something not so popular (based on tripadvisor) so we were specifically lookong for this place. Otherwise we could haved easily missed it . Def worth trying.More

Very good value, excellent light and fresh tempura (we have had some very heavy oily tempura from other places) A young chef and owner doing everything on his own. Great service, perfect location. Clean restaurant with great view. Definitely recommend. Best food and prices in...an overpriced touristy Miyajima.More

Clean & quiet. Run by one man who is the chef. Delicious & fresh tempura. Menu has a couple of options (3!) & English available. Tempura also comes with small sides & miso soup. Portions of appropriate size. Located a few steps off the main...road. Delicious & would go again!More

This was highlight of our trip to Miyajima. We tried Cafe Lente and they told us that day they did not have veggie food. Next door is this restaurant which we assumed did not serve veggie food...but we asked. I am glad we did. We...had the best lunch experience here. We ordered a set lunch with veggie options. The location of this restaurant is excellent. We were able to see Torii and tourists walking by from a distance. The place setting was traditional tatami style. The food was excellent!!! We loved it. The service was quick and courteous.More

We had a quick lunch of tempura donburi here at the recommendation of our innkeeper. It's a small place, like many in Japan. The earnest young chef here turned out significantly better than average tempura for the price. I particularly enjoyed the anago, which I...believe is a specialty of the area.More
