We went there for lunch. I don't usually eat Polvo or Octopus, so I had the fresh grilled calamari (lulas), and my friend had the grilled choco. Their food was delicious, and the service was great. We sat outside and enjoyed a perfect spring day....The portions are quite small, though. For us, it was perfect, but just take into account when ordering.More

We came here for the late lunch and the food was delicious. We had octopus, tuna and prawns and everything was so tasty. Service was good.

Got there at 630 pm only to be met by the owner , an incredibly rude fraulein who made me feel as welcome as a fart in a space suit. Tried to complain but herr kommissar showed up from the kitchen. Awful experience.

Nice food, but too expensive for what you get. Ridiculous booking process. They never answer to phone, but if you go directly they dont have tables and ask you to phone!!

The food is fantastic, but a special mention goes to the delicious samosas, fabulous octopus curry and the best octopus salad we have ever tasted. We had a lot of food, plenty of beer and a bottle of wine between 5 and the bill came...in at £35 per head. The only drawback is if you don’t like octopus there are a few, but not many other options.More

When in Santa Luzia… This small coastal town facing the Ría Formosa nearby Tavira is known around Portugal as the country’s ‘octopus capital’, hence the reverence paid here to this popular culinary speciality. Maritime inspired cooking and decor fully focussing on octopus. Place to be...for octopus lovers! Attentive service also deserves an applause.More

Fantastic service, good and variety. Octopus dishes are really amazing. True Algarve and Portuguese food. The spot near Ria Formosa in the Sotavento area of Algarve is top notch.

Very nice octopus and squid choice for our main meal at lunchtime. Good tables with a great view over the river. Good value and something a bit different

Excelente comida, óptimo serviço e óptima localização. Se o tempo estiver bom, como estava quando estivemos, pode comer fora e é ainda melhor. Recomendo fazer reservas antes de ir. Excellent food, great service and great location. If the weather is nice, as it was when...we were there, you can eat outside and it is even better. I recommend making reservations before going there.More

It's true that the staff - mostly young girls and one boy - can seem a little grumpy. We arrived early and saw one of them make a face as customers started to arrive. But in fact, our waitress was ok - I mean, not...there for a cheery talk, "oh, were are you from?"... but focused on her job, and she performed professionally. We told them that a starter of grilled squid was rubbery, and were given a new dish, this time octopus, which was very tasty. The food is very good. But it does cost you, it is quite expensive. When I went inside to pay with card, the waiter was very polite towards me. - it was narrow and the staff came with steaming trays,...collision almost. My question is: Are there no other restaruants in Sta Luzia/Tavira that specializes in octopus? I am sure there is and let 's put it this way: Then we'll try that one before returning here. Or rather: I am ambivalent.More

My Mom and boyfriend had the grilled octopus, and it was delicious, sooo soft!! I tried from their plates and it was great. My dish was the octopus Al forno from the oven, my octopus unfortunately was not as soft and a littler hard to...chew. If I would come back to this place I recommend getting the grilled one. I read that the staff was rude in other reviews, I totally disagree. The waiters and waitresses were very welcoming and the service was great! Apparently the owner is German and she really doesn’t know how to handle problems. There is a way of saying things and she didn’t find the right words, tone and action. There was a disagreement with a reservation and when she just didn’t want to talk about it anymore she pushed the guy out of the restaurant 😂 every other person would have asked him to wait a little so that more tables will get free and then he and his friends could have a table, but she just didn’t want to find a solution. This disagreement was creating a lot of noise and discomfort in the whole restaurant. I wouldn’t go there again because personally I don’t want to deal with this kind of arrogance. But for everyone who doesn’t value that for their dine out, food is still great!More

So sad. I was 2nd in line and only one table was seated. It was 12:15 in the afternoon, so not late. When the waitress asked "how many", I replied "sola" and the smile vanished. I was told the restaurant was full, as tables were...reserved. As I began to leave, the couple behind me said they were two, and were seated! Now, I get it...it's a better ecomical decision to seat two people rather than have one person at a table. But money isn't the only deciding factor in the service industry. When a restaurant refuses service to one group of people (in this case singles), it disappoints lots of other groups too. Fortunately there are lots of lovely restaurants in Santa Luzia, and I was welcome at another one and had a lovely meal with excellent service. I won't be back to Casa De Polvo. Perhaps other singles will follow my lead too, and go where your business is appreciated.More

It was a festival weekend and very pleased the hostess gave me an outdoor table even though dining solo. I had a nice view of the water & the festival. Wait staff was very attentive also. Ordered the roasted octopus & it came with 5-6...roasted potatoes & greens- it was very good. Thank you for the enjoyable evening and I recommend a stop hereMore

My only complain is the non existence of plates for children. I asked if they could gently do some eggs for my little kid and the answer as a simple no. With no concerns about anything. So this is a restaurant that you won't go...if you have kids. So it's a no for me. Not turning back.More

This restaurant is about 5 minutes from Tavira so I don'tIimagine a taxi would cost very much - maybe between 5 and 10 euros
