Big fan of Steve’s cooking First try of their DIY take away offering We enjoyed it It was obviously not as good as Steve making it for you / eating out Nonetheless tasty and not too challenging to make up (we tried one from Paris...house in lockdown 1 and that was quite hardwork)More

My wife and I dined here on the last Saturday before Lock down Two, and the reputation that the restaurant has achieved is well deserved. We had the 7 course tasting menu with wine flight and each course was superb, looked great and perfectly matched...by the chosen wine. Both Front of House and Chefs explained each course in detail and the wine that was served. Cannot fault any aspect of our evening and we look forward to returning.More

Just returned from Eileen's having had probably the best restaurant meal ever. Food was out of this world. Service was impeccable by staff who knew the wines and food. Chatted to you about the food and were more than happy to help with anything. A...fantastic night out and will definitely be going backMore

Having experienced Steve Barringers food at the Anchor Pub in Tilsworth some time ago we knew we were in for a fantastic night food wise at his New Restaurant Eileens. Well what can we say. Steve and Amy’s new venture in Ampthill is a completely...different experience(it’s not up a level - it’s a different world) almost indescribable, but I’m going to try. Louise and I entered Eileens and the warm and friendly welcome was just lovely. It wasn’t the posh and pretentious place some people might expect from an establishment that produces such fantastic food. It was as mentioned above a warm and friendly atmosphere. The decor was absolutely lovely and extremely well thought out throughout (albeit with a little self indulgence from Mr Barringer LTFC) The staff were exceptional during the evening. Extremely well drilled and professional with their deliverance and descriptive of food upon presentation, but also very personable. Steve Barringer indulged us with his personal touch presenting a number of dishes describing the ingredients with his final presentation. This is a Chef who’s reached a completely new level even he’s not fully aware of it. We tried the five course taster menu (although the seven course looked the one to go for) well what can we say other than we were blown away. Steve Barringer doesn’t just cook his way to great food. He obviously takes a great deal of care and attention to produce an ingredient that allows his obvious talent to flourish and offer the customer the best possible outcome. Steve presented not only the exquisite 5 course taster menu which simply blew us away: Steve also allowed us to taste two further courses. The headline for each course was Tomato - Mackerel - Pork Belly - Lamb and White Chocolate. Not to mention the two additional courses of Cod and Yogurt. Unfortunately I simply do not have the words to adequately describe each course other than to say you simply have to try them for yourselves. Steve’s presentation and mix of ingredients was exceptional. Add a wine flight to compliment your meal and you have a unique and perfect dining experience. But hey don’t take my word for it ......More

We’ve eaten here a few times now, and are never disappointed. The service is always professional and the staff make you feel very welcome. The food is what we come for though, it’s the best in the area by far. The menu changes every month....It’s always outstanding, and worth every penny. If you love great food and being spoilt, you will love it here!More

Visited Saturday 5th Sept for evening meal with high expectations ! The set up, social distancing and rules around covid 19 were very well implemented and we felt absolutely fine. The atmosphere too was nice. The presentation and flavour of the food was excellent, with...the cod course and lamb course outstanding! The portion size though was most disappointing, for the cost, it was really poor value, left the restaurant still hungry which was a real shame. We chose to have a bottle of wine instead of the wine pairing, which was a wise decision, as people who did have it were short changed on the measures and a few didn't drink all of it. Also it wasn't poured at your table from the bottle, which seemed somewhat strange. Our bill was wrong at the end, we were not asked if everything was ok with the meal, and as we left not one member of staff said thank you or goodbye !!More

First time visit, and very impressed with the delightful service and delicious food, beautifully presented. Limited covers, but still achieved ambience (and we felt extremely safe with the Covid-19 provisions in place). Highly recommended.
