We have been waiting to come to Eileen’s for over 2 years due to covid and work. It was worth every second of waiting. His work at The Anchor meant to had high expectations but he far surpassed these with the food at Eileen’s. He’s...changed my mind on dill and my husbands on elderflower. We will be forever disappointed in other restaurants from now on - Eileen’s has set the bar so high!More

As soon as we all arrived and seated with a very warm welcome, we instantly felt relaxed and literally glowing , leaving the cold windy evening well and truly Outside… Well where to start … the wine :) ( will come to that later )...From start to finish the pace, presentation and introduction of the foray of seasonally sourced ingredients was just perfect. All dishes had their merits , but standouts were the whipped butter and swiss milk bread, so moorish, an extraordinary homage to the humble celeriac, elevating it to the echelons of savoury perfection. I generally go mad for Turbot , when it’s wild and sustainable , but was equally as pleased with the Icelandic black Miso cod.. Again Steve is showcasing the best seasonal ingredients in a most natural and complimentary way, truly doing justice to and giving consideration to every element, in its own right and within the composition. The highlight for us was the quail, have genuinely never had such a plump, well prepared and tasty , and worthwhile preparation of this delicate game bird anywhere that comes even close to what we were served , outstanding. And what a finale and only second time to experience the refreshing and mineral herbal palette cleanser of Sea Buckthorn 👌🏼 We took advantage of the wine pairing and thought it was really intuitive and exciting flow and selection, fortunately there is a nice amount of substance in the tasting menu, so the wine didn’t completely knock us sideways :) A truly memorable evening and thanks to Steve and all the highly personable , professional and fun staff , all added to the experience. Look forward to another visit in the morning too distant future to this very special and intimate little restaurant.More

We had the pleasure of visiting Eileens after a 5 month wait (they’re very popular). The food was exceptional, as was the wine pairings. The service was attentive, friendly and slick (special mention to Jack and Keira) and the hosts and Master Chef himself Amy...and Steve were very welcoming. It was an evening to remember and we’ll definitely go again. Thank you.More

We moved into the area at Christmas and had already heard alot about this restaurant so we were really looking forward to making the short journey to Eileens. It absolutely did not disappoint. Having been fortunate enough to have dined at Michelin starred restaurants at...home and abroad, the food we had here in the 7 course taster menu from Steve and his chefs was right up there in terms of quality and attention to detail. Also had warm and attentive service throughout from Sam and her young waiter team. Enjoyed the whole evening so much we immediately booked to go back again in August. It would have been sooner but this was the first date they had available for a Saturday night reservation which tells you something about how popular this fabulous little restaurant is! We had the 5 course taster menu, combined with the wine suggestions. Neither of us could fault the food, nor the wine. The flavours, seasonality and presentation were certainly very present and were excellent. I must however leave a couple of suggestions, which if taken...onboard, will make (in my opinion) this place better: Firstly, the service staff (young, enthusiastic, polite), but clearly not sufficiently trained (you place the plates in a certain way, you remove the plates in a certain way, you make sure that there is water on the table, etc). Casual dining is not an excuse for adequate rather than excellent service - the fault here solely lies with the management, not with the staff. They were doing their best, but they need better training. Secondly, the décor, which was generally nicely executed, however leaving fuse boxes in white (when the walls are painted dark blue), alongside having to sit by big sockets did let it down slightly. Lastly, the lighting. While lovely lampshades came from the the ceiling, these were not being used and instead rather intense spot lights were coming from the sides. I'd certainly suggest a less intense lighting arrangement. As mentioned, these are suggestions made to improve the experience. At £100 per head, I cannot this restaurant a 10/10. An 8/10 is a more realistic score. Service matters and it was just not as good as it should be for a place like this.More

Genuinely one of the best meals i've ever enjoyed anywhere. A truly remarkable 7 course tasting menu. Food 100/100. Service by young, enthusiastic, friendly, polite staff. Overtime I'm sure the premises will be upgraded to match although its very pleasant. I will be returning.

Was lucky enough to get a table within a few days because someone cancelled their booking (definitely worth getting on the waiting list if they don't have a table on your preferred date as there's a chance you'll get in). Each course was delicious, waiting...staff was flexible, helpful and had a sense of humour; the chef's team were well prepped about the different dietary requirements to the point when they brought each plate to the table they knew which variation (no nuts or no gluten) was for which person without asking; wine prices were reasonable; and the timing of each course was spot on. Looking forward to seeing what's on May's menu!More

We celebrated our anniversary at Eileen’s. The food and wine flight were amazing. The explanation by the chefs at each course really informative. The wine perfectly complimented the food. The service was faultless with attentive and courteous waiting staff. We had the 7 course tasting...menu which wasn’t rushed and we were asked if we would like a break before dessert. We enjoyed it so much we have booked to return in July for my birthday!More

I booked a table at Eileen's for an anniversary. We watch MasterChef so knew of Steve and really wanted to try his restaurant. It was fairly hard to book as it's a small and popular restaurant. When we arrived we had a nice hand written...card by Steve and the team for our anniversary, which was a lovely touch. We went with the 8 course tasting menu and my wife had the wine flight. They change the menu every month which is great to keep things fresh, seasonal and exciting. We loved every course. Starting with the bread with whipped butter and burnt onion powder (yum). My fave courses were the lamb belly and the Plaice with beer batter scraps (a great take on fish and chips). The banana parfait was the best pudding I've ever had! The pudding wine was delicious that came with. Steve made time to come and chat to every customer, genuinely after feedback for the food which he is so passionate about. You can tell how much he cares and wants everyone to have the best time. All the staff were friendly and helpful explaining the wine and food as they came out. It's good value for the quality of the tasting menu, and in comparison to others we've tried, it's up there with the best. We will be back for sure to try other menus.More

Been wanting to try this place for ages and finally had a 7 course taster menu for a party of 10. Amazing food! All courses were very inventive and tasty. This was a surprise night for my partner’s birthday and she absolutely loved it. The food is fantastic, well presented and the skill and cookery is exceptional. Its a great touch that the chef, Steve Barringer presents the food to the diners and explains what...it is. The table staff also need a round of applause, they’re attentive without being in your face, polite and efficient. All in all they’re a great team. Thoroughly recommended Well done Steve and team, we will return.More
