After spending 4 days in Cetona, and really enjoying the local restaurants, we were looking forward to lunch here. The location is lovely and the staff welcoming but I can understand why we were the only diners... 100 Euros person is just far too much for the quality of food we were served. The pasta was too thick, the meat... More

An etherial, gastronomic, spiritual luncheon. Price is of no consequence to what you will come away with from dining here. A gem of a lifetime experience. Grazie Mille!

My wife and I had dinner at La Frateria Di Padre Eligio last Friday. We went on a recommendation from some friends who had lunch there last year. They did not steer us wrong. It was probably the best overall dining experience of my life and one I will not forget. The grounds and gardens of this restored Franciscan Monastery... More

I last visited La frateria 14 years ago and was delighted to find it as welcoming as ever. We were the only diners for lunch and had the terrace to ourselves. The food was outstanding - all eight courses. The staff went out of their way to cater for my gluten free companion. The stand out taste was the home... More

We went on the recommendation of a friend in Washington DC who had lived in Tuscany for quite sometime. Probably the best recommendation we had on our trip. The grounds are superb -- a magnificently restored Franciscan Monastery dating back to the time of St. Francis with beautiful grounds and gardens. It serves as the home to a group of... More

A friend recommended this as "a rustic place for a nice lunch." It is certainly much more than that! We arrived and were greeted by our young host for the afternoon. After a short tour of the spectacular grounds and an explanation of how the place works as a centre for recovering young people we were shown to the dining... More

There is nothing not to like about dining at La Frateria. The entire experience, from the drive there, the grounds, the tour , the interior design and decor, the service and of course the food come together to make to make, dining at La Frateria one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. . .

You won't forget this eating adventure. The food was great, but the total experience was worth the price/trouble to drive here. The host met us at the door, and showed us the church, the fresco, the wine cellar, and explained the history of the convent. Moreover, I felt that this restaurant had a soul: the food was fresh and adventuresome.... More

If you are warned and prepared to spend 90 euros per person, before wine, for lunch, you can enjoy the beautiful and unusual ambience of this restaurant. There is no mention of the prix fixe menu and its price on the website, and after I was seated and given an unpriced menu, I inquired and was told "there are no... More

Known locally as Mondo X, this is an exceptionally fine and elegant gourmet restaurant housed in the original dungeon of an old monastery built by St Francis. Nothing has been spared in the renovation of this property. It also has rooms, but we did not stay there. A portion of the property is occupied by about 40 young people struggling... More
