I visited a Monday at 11 am, right when thw restaurant opens. We asked for the mofongo (mashed fried green plantains) with shrimps. I'm a Puerto Rican, so I know about mofongo, and this one ranks on my top three favorites. The service was prompt and friendly and even so early in the day, there were quite a few customers.... Ate dinner at this restaurant twice during our recent trip to Puerto Rico. The food was outstanding both times. Had the octopus salad one night and the mofongo relleno de carrucho the second night. My wife had the asopao de camarones the first night and the arroz con camarones the second visit. The food was very tasty. Very authentic Puertorican... More

My wife and I were staying at the Gran Melia and were looking for a place to eat. We found Don Pepe. It is a small restaurant that has a great vibe. The food and service was excellent. The mofongo was superb and the whole fried fish was perfectly cooked. I highly recommend this spot if you are staying near... More

We were recommended to come here for authentic Puerto Rican food. The sangira was good however I ordered a stuffed chicekn with guava sauce and my mom ordered a salmon with guava sauce. Both were dry and the sauce tasted like melted guave paste. I am Caribbean so I know the difference.

Very nice restaurant with an excellent staff. Our family was kindly attended by Mayre. Excellent service, food and just minutes from the East main attractions: like El Yunque Rain Forest, La Monserrate Beach, among other great places.

I had the Pernil with beans and my wife had steak and we can say that we left wanting so much more food than what our bodies could handle. Great place!

Had a good time with wonderful service, but the food was just okay. The chicken had a taste that indicated the oil in the deep fryer need to be changed. I'm sure other nights it would have been better. Overall, it is a nice restaurant.

We found this restaurant online as we were were taking a drive outside the Gran Melia hotel property. It got good reviews from Trip Advisor so we decided to give it shot. We were so glad we did! We were a party of 5 and the downstairs was really full. So the hostess seated us upstairs and we were the... More

When I travel I want to experience local flavour. Reviews indicated Don Pepe's would fit the bill. The first thing I noticed was that it was a small restaurant. The staff were very welcoming and the prices seemed reasonable. I had the fish of the day, grouper, with coconut rice. The fish was delicious as was the rice. The mixed... More

Authentic Puerto Rican & Cuban Food. Many people write about it in their reviews of the Rio Mar in Rio Grande, PR. I would love to write a review about this place as it was the best Mofungo (fried mashed plantains) we had in PR (and we tried it in 4 restaurants).
