Visited this pub for the first time. Expected pub grub. Got a really first class lamb dish with wondrous tastes. I complimented the CHEF personally for producing a dish which was far better than those I have experienced in expensive restaurant. Highest accolades from me and I ENJOYED such a treat for the palate - and in a pub!

A pre-booked treat for me certainly turned out to be a treat indeed. A bit challenging to park but well worth the effort. What lovely service and a nice 'simple' menu to chose from. Boy was the food good. Pricing? I'll leave that to you. VFM that's what it is all about.

Went with friends for lunch. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Good choice of small plates at a reasonable price. Would go again.

We visited for lunch yesterday with 2 friends. Although extremely busy, they certainly delivered the goods. The food, (roast dinners) was delicious & generous & the service was exceptional, especially in the circumstances. We managed to try a dessert between us, which was a lime & avocado cheesecake ... amazing, worth the visit for that alone. Well done to all... More

Went Saturday lunchtime, very busy but found a table outside, garden was closed as it was being re-furbished. Waitress was lovely, remembered what everyone had ordered without being prompted. Lovely day so being outside was a bonus, I personally think the food is nice but, a bit overpriced but, I will say that the others with me were pleased and... More

A really special location at the foot of the south downs. The pub & restaurant always busy and last night no exception. Food was superb all round and we really did have a lovely meal. My only very small critique would be that the management need to invest in one or two more staff - only three on last night... More

Went for Sunday lunch with family. An amazing location at the bottom of the South Downs. You would need to book for Sunday lunch. We arrived at 11:55 and managed to grab the last table. The place was heaving. We left at 13:30 and there were queues for tables. A vast range of Ales from local microbreweries. This is an... More

A small but perfectly formed evening menu. A choice of six dishes for each course (plus a few on the specials board) - we didn't struggle to find something, we struggled as almost all the options sounded fabulous! Service was absolutely spot-on - it felt very genuine and warm. There was a really nice atmosphere in the pub, mainly from... More

As far as roast go, this is probably the best (apart from hotel du van). Great little pub with excellent service. Parking not the best and perhaps a £couple too dear, but hey, generally very very good!
