The Becco della Civetta is an institution, a long and steady presence that takes the regional specialties and local produce and turns them into fine meals. This is where I bring out of town visitors, because it is always a great meal and good experience. Reserve one of the tables on the balcony for fine views of the mountains. Then... More

This ristorante has the look and the prizes of fine dining but does not comletly live up to the expectations. Food is good and made with care but it does not stand out as excellent. Service is very good and souroundings fine. mayby we were there a bit early in the season.

This turned out to be one of the best Italian food we had. Not only on our recent trip to South Italy but even when compared to the many trips over the last couple of years to Rome and Northern Italy. The restaurant itself looks unassuming, but delivers excellent concoctions of local ingredients of the highest quality. This is topped... More

I made the terrifying rental-car trip into Castelmezzano, with its steep, narrow, flagged streets and then went walking about looking for some lunch, although it was past 3pm, when most Italian restaurants are shut. When I peeped in the door, the lone waiter beckoned me in and made me welcome. He served me and excellent meal. Spectacular views of the... More

A must for everyone who loves food and is visiting Castelmezzano. The chefs creates fantastic original combinations like swordfish with liquorice. You should go for the tasting menu to experience creativity of the chef for a very decent price. The wine that was recommended was perfect as well. Enjoy!

We went for our lunch after Flight of the Angels and a walk through this most charming village. The meal was the exclamation mark on a wonderful day. It has a large dining area with huge windows to capture the views. There is also a broad terrace. The chef greeted us after our small group applauded the meal. Fantastico!

Because of the many positive reviews of this restsurant we decided to have diner in here during our 1day stay in this nice little town. Food was nice, we have had much better during our holiday in italy, but was not worth the total amount we had to pay. Overall a little disappointing experience.

We went here for a meal tonight, and it was possibly the finest meal we've ever had. The place is vast inside, with a magnificent terrace outside. We were recommended an excellent Cantina Di Venosa Rosso 2011 for only €12 and had two lovely antipasto, two mains, superb deserts and a local aperitif Lucano: check it out

Wonderfully prepared foods, with contemporary twists and presentation. Views from the terrace are fantastic. The chefs are a joy to talk with and are more than happy to make suggestions when asked. Highly recommended and very reasonably priced for the extremely sophisticated fare they provide. Gabrielle and Antoinetta are extremely knowledgeable and employ a majority of ingredients from the immediate... More
