The Museum has three galleries and a large meeting room on ground level. The Welcome Gallery rotunda, which invites visitors into the Museum, currently features "Ute Seasons" (through mid-August 2016), an exhibit of seasonal relevance for the Southern Ute Tribe. The next Welcome Gallery Exhibit will be the Bennett Thompson Collection (August - September 2016) a Southern Ute Tribal member and tribal museum advocate for many years. The Temporary Gallery is featuring Mountain Lion! (through April 2017), a family exhibit created by the Center of Southwest Studies and the Colorado Division of Wildlife. The exhibit features large dioramas, calls of the lion, fossil representations, and many artifacts. Themes of "Then . . . and Now" presides over the Permanent Gallery. Large photographic curtains and life-size replicas, along with customized video, audio, and touchscreen equipment, tell the historic and modern history of the Southern Ute People. Beginning with the "Circle of Life", a multi-screen cinema, the Gallery present exhibits of historic significance specific to Ute life. A new theme, " . . . and Now", will highlight current events within the sphere of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe. The first " . . . and Now" exhibit will showcase popular regional public radio station KSUT, which began as a tribal news outlet. The exhibit is titled, "KSUT: Featuring 40 Years 1976-2016" (September - October 2016). "Behind the Scenes" tours offer a closer look at the Museum's inner workings, which include methods of "freezing" and "housing" objects, and a viewing of select objects in the Collection Vault. The tour provides a unique insight and broader perspective of the mission and purpose of the Southern Ute Museum. Behind the Scenes tours can accommodate up to 10 individuals at $15.00 per person.
