Having a bit of a rocky start with the closure and reopening of Boracay, Mövenpick has cemented itself as a successful family-oriented resort that caters to Boracay visitors who enjoy a bit of privacy from the hustle and bustle of the island.  Best for families or romantic getaways, be sure to book early as the resort tends to fill-up fast, especially during peak seasons.

Citic Hotel, sitting along Boracay’s quiet Station 1 with 339 spacious and creative rooms, features 4 spacious dining facilities that serve both local and international cuisines. The hotel is accessible from the main road and less than a 3-minute walk to the famed white-sand beaches that have constantly won Boracay the title of the world’s best island. It’s perfect for those vacation goers who want to experience Boracay from the more laid back atmosphere of Station 1.

Start with the charcuterie and bread of the day and order the appetizer of cucumber, squid, dill and beef, horseradish, cauliflower. For your mains, the chicken, seabass and wagyu steak are quite good. The desserts were not remarkable so just order what you want to try to end on a sweet note with cold brew. Budget about ₱2,000/head for a 4-course meal plus ₱1,500/head steak+wine pairings. I love the tour of the test kitchen, aging rooms and different fermented ingredients

Overall, after enjoying the Mibrasa-cooked meats, it’s hard to enjoy other grilled meats in other places because you’ll look for that seared tight juiciness in your meat. I love that the ambiance is down-to-earth but with high quality of steaks. Favorites: Triple Cheese Potato Skins for the appetizer; Super Steak Signature Burger, Fire-Grill Baby Back Ribs, Dry-Aged Ribeye 700 grams, Norwegian Salmon Fillet Skin-On for the meats; and the Strawberry Pretzel Mousse for dessert. Budget ₱1,500/head

Overall, Cantonese food by Chinese Chef Hann Furn Chen is one of the best in Manila! They don’t compromise on the ingredients, and they cook these using the right Chinese techniques such that the traditional specialties do not disappoint in flavor. Start with the steamed and fried dim sum, hot and sour soup and order the 2-way duck specialty, deep-fried prawns, wok-fried US Beef and steamed garoupa for your mains. Order the Zha Jiang Hand Pull Noodles for long life. End with the mango sago

Overall, I love that it is quiet on weekends from the busy office crowd and you can walk literally to different restaurants in Salcedo or Legazpi. We spent most of our time in the room and having a fully equipped kitchen with goodies was perfect to laze out with the fam, just watching a movie or playing games. The boys loved the resort-like pool and the game room. This is one of my favorites—Straight Up Bar, SEDA’s signature roof deck bar, because of the awesome views of the quiet side of Maka

Finally, you can now cruise from Manila to Coron on Discovery Fleet’s live aboard boat designed with the lifestyle non-diver market. Cruisin’ with your friends and family is the best way to travel around the Philippine archipelago—exploring islands by day, traveling by sea by night. We experienced the inaugural trip of Nature Escape – Coron onboard My Discovery Palawan with the following route: Batangas – Apo Reef – Calumbuyan Island – Culion – Coron Bay – Siete Pecados – Busuanga.

Overall, Red Lobster is top of mind if you want to celebrate #lobsterworthy milestones with the family. I would recommend ordering the fresh steamed lobster for the best experience or the ultimate feast for everyday celebrations. It’s perfect for families who love American-comfort food like nachos, chowder, mac & cheese and satisfying desserts. Budget about ₱1,500/head + drinks. Best to go with a group of 5 up to be able to share and indulge in more dishes.

Overall, Hapag is better than Toyo in terms of delivering authentic bolder Filipino flavors that a Filipino can identify with. However, profile was a bit on the sweet side and too rich that if you eat the food in succession, masusuka ka and you won’t enjoy the mains and the desserts. The service needs improvement in terms of more engagement and knowledge about the courses. For first-timers, try the 8-course degustation and budget about ₱3,500/head for the tasting course + drinks.

Overall, you’ll love meeting up at Elephant Grounds because you can feel the creative energy from the people, the service and the food. Excellence attracts excellence; I do hope they maintain this culture and quality of the food and drinks. It’s like a Chef Nicco restaurant with a third wave cafe hip vibe. Don’t miss the Duck & Waffle, Sourdough Toasts, Duck Krapow and Toasted Rice Ice Cream. Budget about ₱500/head.

Overall, if you’re looking for a quiet getaway with a good beach in El Nido, then you might want to consider Huni Resort. It is best suited for small groups, especially couples who simply want to enjoy the quiet and relaxing vibe in Lio, away from the hustle and bustle of El Nido town. The best part? You don’t even have to leave the estate to find good food, island hopping adventures and probably one of the best beaches on the entire island.

Overall, a Yakiniku experience is a special BBQ feast to celebrate special occasions and milestones in the family. Definitely, order the Special Homare Yakiniku set with the Japanese A5 Wagyu and the Special Homare Roll for a special birthday meal. I love it when a Japanese restaurant offers a lot of variety to satisfy the Japanese cravings of kids, senior citizens, healthy eaters and ramen lovers. Budget about ₱1,500 per head.

Overall, we love VBQ and will go back for the Bun Thit Nuong (Obama Noodles), Suon Khia (Pork Ribs) and Vietnamese BBQ (Scallops, Pork Belly, Gindara). Most of the dishes are ₱300/plate. Best to go with friends and order different dishes to share. End the night with Dear Cheenie or MILF Tea at Bang! Bang! Bar. Budget about ₱500/head + drinks. One thing to note though is that VBQ is not air-conditioned, and you can smell like BBQ after the meal.

We love the concept—very efficient—and service is very helpful. I like my coffee or tea for dessert so the sea salt latte or loose leaf almond milk is our favorite. Best to order from the Harlan + Holden Coffee’s app available on Google Play and the Apple App Store. It’s a great place to have a quick meet up with friends on 5th ave or a quick catch up on work with inspiring interiors. Congrats to Harlan + Holden BGC team for the awesome Because Coffee concept!

Overall, at the end of the meal, we asked Chef Miko, “Why is your food so good?” It looks simple, classic French (not fusion), but when you taste it, the flavors overwhelm you with their simplicity. Ang galing! For the best experience, make sure to reserve the banquet tables which are very conducive for conversations with friends until closing time. Definitely, order the Egg and Spaghettini for the small plates, the Duck for the mains, Chocolate Textures and Baba Au Rhum for dessert.

Rong Hua is the first authentic Bak Kut Teh (literally means “meat bone tea”) concept restaurant in Manila from one of Singapore’s oldest and most famous pork rib soup shops by founding grandfather Chua Ah Hua and Uncle Rong. Brought to Manila by master franchisee Silver Lush Food Corporation, it has three branches in Singapore before expanding for the first time outside the Lion City. Finally, we now have a place to satisfy our cravings for our Singapore Bak Kut Teh favorite right here.
