One of the seven islands of the original Bombay, Byculla is one of the most evolved
neighbourhoods in Mumbai that has consistently rebuilt itself for the modern-day locals while keeping its confluence of heritage and history intact. Once a home to only the wealthy, Byculla is today a home to the most diverse communities like Parsis, Iranians, Christians, Jews, Portugese, Maharashtrians and Muslims. While the akharas (wrestling joints), world-famous Dhobi Ghat, Mumbai’s only zoo are all sprinkled across this suburb, the roads
quickly lead to the more popular areas of the Haji Ali Dargah, Race Course and the
Mahalakshmi Temple within a few minutes.
This is the head quarters of the Mumbai Post office. The structure is huge and there are 3 to 4 gates thru which you can enter this building. this is a stone building around 150- 200 years old. It can be maintained much better.
What a beautiful working synagogue this is. The caretaker was incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming and allowed us to explore the facilities inside and out. Apparently there are 7 synagogues in Bombay and 4 000 jews. Attached to the synagogue is a hostel where you can get bed and breakfast
Gloria Church (Also known in Portuguese as: Nossa Senhora de Gloria) was built in 1911-13 on one of the oldest Roman Catholic church sites in Mumbai.
The church is situated in the Byculla, Mumbai. Limited parking. It’s a very busy area therefore finding a place to park on the street maybe difficult. Do visit if in the vicinity.

There is however a lot of activity during the Chinese New year as it's here that all the Chinese in Mumbai assemble during that time. We climbed up the...

Dan Dan noodles and Lemongrass Tofu
The noodles were quite flavorful. Liked it.
Loved the flavors in lemon grass tofu. The Tofu was perfect, however, there were no lettuce cups in the...
Faiz Tikka ♥️
I stumbled upon this very small joint in Byculla East. This is located at a distance of 2 minutes from Byculla Station on a Footpath across the Church.
I was surprised by the options they had to offer in their Menu that too in such cheap prices. Right from Fish, Chicken and Mutton Kebabs & Tikkas. The...
