Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
Definitely worth the walk up or even take a taxi ride to the “park”. It’s not really a park, but has plenty of room to walk around the outside and inside of the old house ruins. Great view of Rio in all directions.
You get there by bus or tram, walk a bit and finally get to this big house. Very very interesting. I was looking for Debret drawings and found them right there. As well I found so many others I didn't know about and loved them. The price is low and the place is amazing. If you want to see paintings,...
our local guide suggested a visit as it was one of the few museums open on a Monday. What a surprise! Two floors of interesting paintings and lithographs of local scenes from late 19th and early 20th century and a Picasso! The highlight was a room of lithographs of individual animals... Quite superb.
We really liked this place, there was lots of choice for veggies, good sized portions and lots of interesting North Brazillian Folk art around the place. The menu includes Engish translations.
We had an event meal but it's open in the day and just next to the Bonde stop.
It is a very good looking restaurant, the food is not cheap and it is a peculiar menu. If you want to try something different come to this restaurant. The neighborhood of Santa Teresa is not "so safe" then pay attention if you rather go walking instead of taking a cab or Uber.
I had the most incredible experience because of the warm and helpful staff at the HOTEL SANTA TERESA! A big thank you to Alex, Vitor, Sydimar, Mayke, Thais & Solto!! I was at the hotel for a photo shoot last in June and the service was so exceptional that I will definitely come back to this location & recommend it...
We had a great stay in Mama Shelter. Very comfortable rooms. Breakfast is just great. Everything is made fresh. Orange juice, bread, cake, omelette etc.
People at reception are very friendly and fluent in English. Caipirinha in the bar from the finest, as strong as u want. This is Brazil from the it’s best side!
Also dinner was very good,...
