If you want real parmesan, cut from the block, grated over your pasta with a twist of style, this is the place. Until recently, this neighborhood was home to the notorious ‘Carlton Crew,’ a pseudo mafia who started their day with a local espresso. They are gone, but the espresso still runs strong in this Little Italy which has something for everyone. Starched white tablecloths, candles, pizza the way they do it "back home" and maybe even a bit of amore. The number of gelato choices will leave you in a state of indecision and wide footpaths, big awnings and a sea of packed tables makes this al fresco dining experience a continental buzz. Even if you’re not eating, it’s worth the stroll just for the people-watching, which, of course, is an Italian tradition.
I always go to Lygon st by tram from the Mall, and go straight to Readings - both their adult and children's shops. They have quirky things and a range you won't get anywhere else and the man who helped me in the adult book shop went out of his way to really make sure I was helped in every...
The park certainly gets a lot of use, if only by people passing through. The experience is enhanced by plantings of flowers. Some are in flower at the moment. I took my opportunity to call in at Parco a new cafe on the edge of the park.
This is one of those parks and squares that did not quite make it and it commemorates the Italian heritage of Lygon Street but could do it so much better. It is an open space and that is a positive but could be nmade more attractive and interesting.
This place lies at the main Lygon street and also known as Pokkies. This is a kind of mini casino and truly good for fun and entertainment, less crowded, convenient for people living in this sourinding but not like the big Casino Crown. Only slot machines available with drinks bar and shorties to enjoy.
"Great dining experience for two couples in Lygon Street"

I was recommended to this restaurant by an Italian born salesperson in Myers in the city. It was a really great meal of Italian food particularly the pasta being made onsite fresh every day plus dessert made to order lie apple strudel. Food is fine dining priced and I feel justifies the prices.
I have been always coming to this place with my girlfriend. Went there last night with my love to celebrate our anniversary. Charlie was there to welcome us. We ordered the special scallops and the bbq calamari as our entree followed by rib eye, linguine crab and scampi. The food was mouth watering. I probably had the best scallops and...

I came here with my family for my husband and I to celebrate the night before our wedding. The service was fantastic, as usual, and the food exceptional! We often come here for our anniversaries and special occasions and we always recommend it to our friends who visit Melbourne! You cannot miss this Italian restaurant, the waiters give you time...
"Very good location and amenities - problem is door keys"

Delightful suite with pleasant staff on hand. I can only credit the beds and bathroom as excellent. For selfcaterers the kitchen is good. There are a comfortable sofa and easy chair in the living room but a poor TV. The major problem for me was the impossibility to get the credit card style room key to work. Sure, the staff...
This is our go-to hotel for a few days in Melbourne. Clean, comfy and right around the corner fromLygon Street. Easy walk into the centre of the city, or to Brunswick Street and the tram for further afield is at the end of the University line, about six minutes walk away. There is an adjacent, undercover, locked garage right next...
Nice cost spot wish we could have stayed a bit longer only thing noisy but nice cars and great place to eat just trying to park was a challenge
Nice welcome by the front desk lovely lady maybe next we would stay and leave car at home
I know I've only given it an average rating but I didn't see anything amazing about the apartment but then I also didn't see anything to complain about either. Everything worked, it was spacious, all good. But don't underestimate the location. I've never seen so many restaurants! The night life was buzzing with activity and even when I was wandering...
