Vienna’s sixth district hosts high street shopping heaven and pedestrian area Mariahilfer Strasse. The weirdest local building is probably the city aquarium Haus des Meeres, housed in one of Vienna’s six remaining World War II defense towers, and topped with a rooftop bar that offers stunning views over Vienna and the center. One of the most historic sites in the area is the passageway of 18th century Raimundhof with its small shops and cafés. It leads from Mariahilfer Strasse to Windmühlgasse. For a glimpse into the world of early 19th century theater, visit Semperdepot, the former depository for theater decoration, which now hosts art exhibitions and fairs.
An amazing aquarium and zoo located in the only WW2 Flak tower accessible by the public. Everything is imaginatively presented and very well done. The restaurant on the top floor with a terrace around it gave great 360 degree views of Vienna. There is less on the levels as you work upwards so don't rush thinking you have so many...
The area of Vienna around the Nasmarket has some incredible buildings from the turn of the century when people designed with distinctive exteriors. This area is like the Eixample in Barcelona and the Gaudi of Vienna is Otto Wagner. This is a very cool building with flowers adorning the exterior. It also has intricate ironwork like a Guadi. Again if...
I love classical music and am blown away by opportunities to visit places that famous composers have lived and worked. The Haydnhaus is well worth a visit. The exhibits are informative and interesting and give a sense of the life of Haydn leading up to his death. I loved seeing an instrument he played on and one of his ironic...

A healthy use of a war relic. Those who work there are friendly and competent, there are opportunities for physical contact with some species, which is rare and does not seem to bother animals. Great view of the restaurant / cafe on top of the building.

"Well cooked meal"

This restaurant gets busy so booking recommended. Waiters were kept busy but were polite throughout meal .My husband enjoyed his starter of goulash soup and then we both had the duck with mushroom risotto which was lovely, but my dessert of chocolate souffle with sour cherry sorbet was the best bit of the meal for me. The only thing I disliked...
We followed the rating for Vienna’s best thai restaurants and indeed were very pleased with the food and service. Only thai natives work there. The chefs table at the end of the meal period brought 4 thai lady chefs to the restaurant The food had a large but not too huge variety. Half of what normal pseudo Asian restaurants offer....
"Good burgers, good beers, and a huge number of gins"

We stopped by here twice during our stay in Vienna - the first time just for a beer, and the second time that was again the intention, but we ended up staying to eat. The atmosphere is bustling, and both times the place was very busy, with most tables being booked, but there always seemed to be at least a...

"True burgers just off Mariahilfer street"

Dropped in with my family shortly after arriving in Vienna. Closest spot to our Airbnb, and after two visits in a single week so far, dare we say one of the best. Some of the best burgers we've ever had, with delicious meat, buns and inventive topping combos. Staff and service are very welcoming.
We stayed at Hotel Das Tyrol in December for 5 days. This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. I can’t say enough about the staff. We were able to get an early check-in which was great since we just flew from New York. Beautiful room with so many modern touches. Very comfortable bed. Very modern...

The hotel is nice, clean rooms, nice breakfast , location is 20 minutes walk to the old city center, 2 to 5 minutes walk to u-Bahn (subway)
The only improvement is needed the WiFi- very slow and only possible to work with it in dining room.
Market is just outside hotel and it clean and good
Service was nice and no hustle at all finding it. Metro and bus just 50 meters outside the hotel. Will love to stay in future.
