Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianized Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centerpiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
I went to this cinema after a number of years. The sound is good, the seats are properly laid out and the canteen is well equipped with drinks and snacks at normal prices. Definitely recommended. If there’s something that one can’t find in other countries in the summer, it’s open air cinemas.
In this place you can hike/walking to the top of this place and see how wonderful this place and how wonderful athens is. You can see 360° View panorama of athens city including Acropolis ruins. nice place to end my trip in this city.
"Takes a little bit of walking, but excellent place to take pictures."

You will get the perfect shots to the Parthenon and other Athens Spots without the massive amounts of people. Wear comfortable shoes as you will have to walk for a while on rough terrain. It is the only structure in the hill, so don't expect to do a lot of sight seeing there, again, you will be able to get...
We had a terrific meal here. I had the lamb and my husband had the chicken jalfrezi. The taste was very good. We eat a lot of indian food and surely not every restaurant has this quality. Another good point is that this restaurant is not too touristic and a lot of indians are eating here with us. We would...
We visited Athens for 2 /12 days and this great cafe 3 times which I think says it all. Despite its central location, it was a place of quiet and calm in a busy City. the food we ate was spot on and the drinks superb. The staff were all friendly and helpful and we even found a few English...
What a great intro to Greek food for our tour group. Amazing Greek salad and pork gyro. Portion was huge so wish I'd known to split. Sister got a three dip plate with pita that was also really good. Staff very friendly and helpful and handled our group with ease.
Our stay at AD was superb. The staff was very accommodating to our needs, especially Aris, who helped us with buying online Acropolis tickets and recommending a nice restaurant for lunch closeby.
Our room was clean and comfortable, and our bathroom recently renovated.
But, our utmost favorite part of our stay was the breakfast! Located on the 6th floor with...
A very cute boutique hotel with a lovely rooftop restaurant (great service, delicious food!) in a fun neighborhood right beside the Acropolis Museum. Location was ideal for meals, shopping and sightseeing. We highly recommend!
We stayed 2 nights in Athens at the Athens Gate Hotel. Location is walking distance to restaurants, sites, and shops. Rooftop bar overlooking ruins and in-view of the Acropolis cannot be beat! Concierge at the front desk helped us to arrange dinner reservations for one of our favorite meals during our entire stay in Greece.
The location near the foot of the Acropolis and the Grand Promenade makes this a great choice. It’s not overly luxurious but it’s clean and comfortable and convenient. There is a metro stop steps away along with cafes and shops.
Small room, big window but no view however great location and access to nicer sister hotel with amazing rooftop bar and restaurant. Good breakfast provided. Staff friendly and helpful. Proximity to Parthenon and Acropolis unbeatable.
