Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
On the northern slopes of the Acropolis it is evocative in its long history, from pre-classical centuries to Roman times.
During aristocrat rule it was the seat of courts and the ruling council. With the arrival of the golden era some functions moved to the Hill of Pnyx.
It was fascinating to learn in Roman times St. Paul delivered one...
The Kotzia Square is located in front of Athens City Hall.
The square, with it's typical 19th century neo-classical architecture is furthermore surrounded by the Municipal Theater of Athens, the National Bank, and the Main Post Office.
Hard to be missed, but definitely a must see in Athens.
Great art space that exhibits works of contemporary art from European artists. Nice environment, polite and helpful staff. Located at the center of Athens, in one of the main squares of the capital. The coffee bar downstairs is a really nice place to enjoy your morning coffee or your evening drink. It’s the perfect spot if you want to enjoy performing...
A very interesting and quite neglected, even by Athenians, little museum housing memorabilia from Katina Paxinou's career. How often do you get to see an Academy Award from so close? The museum is housed inside the beautiful Eynard Mansion, which belongs to the National Bank of Greece and also hosts several interesting temporary art exhibitions. Caution: Because of the limited...
This restaurant was close to our hotel, and we wanted to try it as soon as we saw it. We were pleased. I ordered the steak and my wife ordered the shrimp. With the exception of my wife's reaction to the heads of the shrimp still being attached, both meals were great. We also had greek salads and a mushroom...
stop by this place in the neighborhood at least 4 times. it was a great place for dessert of breakfast. Between the 9 of us we probably tried almost everything on the menu. No duds. The top cream and honey as well as the yogurt honey and walnuts were big favorites. Dont miss the chance to stop and enjoy some...
Very delicious food! Excellent service, especially Olivia!!! She made our visit special!! Nice live music. The place is clean and very traditional. We will definitely recommend this restaurant to all friends visiting Athens. Five star ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Staff was amazing, our room was fabulous and the restaurant on the rooftop was great! We had reserved for 2 nights before we went on a 8 day cruise with Cylestyal Cruise to Greece and Turkey and it was a perfect start!
Hotel is centrally located close to Omonoia Square.
Room has many amenities but I would rather say a bit outdated.
On the positive side, i loved the lobby and the art installations, the breakfast and the very very professional and smiling staff.
Location of the hotel was great, it's walking distance to food and sightseeing attractions. Room and toilet were spacious and clean. The hotel also arranged an airport transfer for us to head back to the airport after a two nights stay. Recommend to anyone visiting Athens!
Clean and modern hotel with a friendly staff and good breakfast. Good location nearby a metro stationa and walking distance to the center and to Acropolis. The disadvantage is that the surronding area is not so nice and there are only 2-3 nice restauants near by the hotel.
Stayed for 4 nights . First room we stayed in was an upgrade to a city view however the view was of a very rundown apartment block. The air conditioning did not work and there was an unpleasant smell from the drains. We were offered another room when asked. This room was comfortable and clean.
