A visit to Amsterdam’s Eastern Docklands presents the opportunity to marvel at its many modern architectural masterpieces like the Openbare Bibliotheek Amsterdam and the beguiling Python Bridge while taking in its scenic waterfront with its trendy assortment of cafés, restaurants, bars, and clubs. Here in this post-industrial (though in some parts still very much presently industrial) neighborhood, you’ll find a smart selection of cool galleries and shops as well as the kid-friendly Science Center NEMO and the National Maritime Museum.
Eat, see, and stay in Eastern Docklands (Oostelijk Havengebied)
The Python Bridge is an interesting looking bridge with a wavy, undulating form that spans the canal between Sporenburg and Borneo Island. The strange shape is actually to allow taller ships to pass underneath.
Looks very pretty and fun to walk across a "step" bridge in famously flat Amsterdam, with great views over the canals.
To be fair, most of the KNSM island is interesting just architecturally speaking. The IJ side of the island is pretty boring, except for the water views, good for dog walking or running. With the exception of the quay crane B&B, which is kind of funny. When coming up to the end of the Surinamekade, one has a great view...

The Beeldengroep Amphitrite is a sculptural ensemble featuring Amphitrite, goddess of calm seas. With her is her son Triton, the messenger of the seas and holding his special twisted conch shell . The two are circled by a group of dolphins, playing and sprouting water into the fountain.
Most of the sculptures are too rough cast to provide a realistic...
LOVED everything here. They have gluten-free options for the bagels. If you have any allergies, they are really careful when they make your food. The staff is really nice. The place has very good atmosphere.
We had a lovely evening and dining experience at the Silk Road. Food was excellent, service was the best. I had lamb chops cooked to perfection. Being a small eater, there was enough food to satisfy; if you are a man or used to huge American meals, you might go home hungry.
Last night in Amsterdam, another couple asked us to join them here for drinks and dinner as it is a short walk from Movenpick Hotel. It looked a little hm-m-m, but we went in, and after a confusing conversation (tourists!) about which is the bar and which is the restaurant (you can't sit in the restaurant if you are having...
Great for groups of friends where you want to taste as many dishes as possible. All comes in small portions at low price. Quality is good however and service friendly. Possibility to reserve the first floor for larger groups.

This restaurant advertises itself as Dutch with a twist. Boy were they not kidding! Outstanding creative cocktails and food out of this world...every bite was delicious and we couldn't recommend this place more highly!
Stayed here last week to celebrate my 21st Birthday - would definitely return whatever the occasion!! Arrived later on and was greeted by a lovely man (I believe he was called Hibbe or something similar, I didn’t quite manage to grab it) who was extremely welcoming and helped us with getting transport tickets for the weekend - only €17 per...

We were arriving 8 hours sooner than check-in time, they helped us and prepared our rooms for us. the staff was so kind and lovely. I liked the view of the rooms. The design of the rooms was so...
