Stop and stare at the beauty and symmetry of the Basilica of Santa Croce any time day or night. Unraveling around it are a number of architectural and artistic masterpieces, from the Synagogue to the Central National Library. As a hub for young people, the area gets busy with people who want to have fun: a continuous flow of tourists and locals become animated by songs and dances.
We came to this place to have a rest and some snack. While sitting we were admiring the view of the church, whole piazza and the atmosphere of Florence. Occasionally we heard some street music and read about the place and it was a very pleasant experience.
Resting place of the great and the good - it's like taking an entire Italian historical and cultural tour on one little spot. I only wish there was more information available, or I'd prepared better, to get the most out of what was there. (Although I realise it is still a church and not a museum!) The building itself is...
Piazza Santa Croce is one of the main squares in Florence and gets its name from the famous Basilica di Santa Croce, one of the largest Franciscan churches in Italy. Interesting and beautiful buildings surround the square and right beside the basilica is a statue of Dante. A crazy competitive game, called Florentine Calcio Storico is still played in the...
In conjunction with the adjoining Basilica, this museum is chock full of art. What I found most interesting was the history of the 1966 flood and the video showing the restoration of many of the damaged pieces from within the church. The hydraulic system that is attached to The Last Supper to lift it in case of another flood is...
Small chapel located with the adjoining Santa Croce Basilica and cloisters complex. It can be easily overlooked after coming from the adjacent Basilica, but it’s worth a look. The beautiful azure porch dome is probably most impressive while the interior is more starkly embellished.
After visiting this place now i understand why it is voted number one on trip advisor. The food is fantastic and given that we visited whilst the whole of Italy is on lock down the food was so fresh.
Daniel and Valentina are so great and just complete the vibe and great food here.
A must visit for anyone in...
This bakery was so amazing from the pastries to the bread to the coffee to the savory snacks... they’ve got it all. The salami cream cheese sandwich is INSANE i would even eat it for breakfast. Such friendly staff and the food is just to die for. It was my favorite place in Florence. I actually had probably 25 salami...

"Fantastic restaurant "

We ate here back in June 2019 and really enjoyed it.
The food and service were both fantastic. We were provided with complimentary drinks on arrival as well as some complimentary taster dishes during the course of our meal.
The staff seemed to really care about whether we enjoyed the food, asking us our opinions, mentioning the chef had tried...

We came here for our first lunch in Florence and were not disappointed. The bread was incredible and there was a great choice of fillings available. We went for heaven and hell and both were delicious. Great if you're in the Santa Croce area.
My wife and I stayed here in November 2019. The staff was very friendly, and the hotel was clean and cozy. It also had a slight palatial ambiance. The location was very convenient for site-seeing and exploring all that Florence has to offer. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
My second stay at Plaza Lucchesi was a dream! Again, the staff provided attentive, unparalleled service, meeting needs before you discover them! The 12 luxurious nights overlooking the Arno were not enough. NYE on their rooftop deck was magic and I can't wait to return. I highly recommend a stay here -- truly unforgettable!
Everything about the Relais Santa Croce was perfect for us.
The palazzo is beautiful. Our suite was lovely. Comfortable, full of light with a view of the church.
The staff were excellent, friendly, courteous and helpful.
Breakfast was delicious and we really enjoyed our nightcap and snack in the fabulous lounge.
The photographs do not do it justice. We had...
This hotel was part of a group tour I was on. Cramped quarters, no elevator to the second floor so had to drag our luggage up the stairs, sparsely furnished, small and strangely configured bathroom which caused bumped knees in the middle of the night, mosquitoes, street noise, curt staff. So substandard that I bailed out and booked into a...
We stayed for two nights and loved this hotel. The staff gets an A+ for customer service. We ate at the onsite restaurant and the food was outstanding. The room was small but luxurious. It was far from the hustle and bustle right on the river which gave us an excuse to walk each day to the shop bridge and...
