Just outside the ancient walls of Florence, Viale Michelangiolo starts. It is a winding road rimmed by wonderful poplars and holm oaks. The long ascent opens up to the most beautiful and famous panoramic viewpoint of Florence: Piazzale Michelangelo, where an elevated terrace offers visitors an incomparable and breathtaking view of the entire city from above. During good weather, Piazzale Michelangelo provides visitors with a serene space surrounded by the amazing landscape, better if accompanied by a fresh gelato from a local kiosk. During night, visitors will be dazzled by the warm lights of the capital of the Renaissance. Spend a second with the silent Romanesque beauty of the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte: the one that wishes good morning and good night to Florence!
Best place to see Firenze from above. This view is simply amazing. There it's possible to see all major sights of Firenze like Santa Maria del Fiore, Palazzo Vecchio, Santa Maria Novella, Santa Croce, etc.
It is worth the climb to this church or take a no 12 bus from Florence. The floor is very unusual and so are the frescoes. Find the burial of the author of Pinocchio and combine this church with a visit to the Piazzale Michelangelo
On our way up the the square of Michelangelo we visited these rose gardens. They are free to enter and quite cozy and well maintained. There were a lot if locals enjoying the sun. Probably also because the gardens have free entrance. From here you alresdy have a nice view on the oldtown of Florence.
We accidentally discovered the Bardini museum on a rainy day in Florence. It was quiet and exquisite. Very reasonable ticket prices. Beautiful exhibits gave me great ideas about decorating at my own house. Go see it an add one more jewel of Florence to your list.
We passed this gelato shop every day as we walked towards city center and stopped OFTEN. I was so excited when I got my first cup, I almost walked out without paying. The ladies in the shop were friendly and helpful...explaining all the flavors and suggested pairings. My favorite flavor was Nutella and the best pairing, for me, was that...
We had the most amazing dinner tonight. We are traveling through Italy with my 88 year old mother for her birthday and couldn’t have been happier with this choice of restaurant. The service was warm and lovely while being exceptionally informative and considerate. The food was so inventive and special care was taken to showcase the ingredients of the region....
Agreed: best 5€ spent!
We were around piazzale Michelangelo and wanted a quick bite to keep going and got to a reviewed that mentioned how good this shop was for panini and it was right on the spot!
We got 2 panini and sat right outside: simply delicious meat and cheese sandwiches, cheap and could not be happier.
"Another Fabulous Gnocchi Experience in Florence "
reviewed 2 weeks ago by alexny333
Florence, the capitol of the Renaissance has always been a destination for art and culture. Michelangelo and Leonardo called Firenze home. It has also become a great destination for food. As I am in search of the world’s greatest gnocchi, what better place to be than the heart of Tuscany. Florence is a charming, ancient city along the banks of...
The location was great ! Close enough to walk to things but away from the noise. There is a cute little park right in front of the hotel as well. You also must send some time on the rooftop patio. Staff was incredibly helpful and friendly too.
Gorgeous grounds, superior views. The entire staff provides excellent service. They are willing to go beyond the call of duty with a smile. Our room was very well serviced twice daily. Breakfast is very fresh with large selection. Van service to and from downtown is convenient during in-climate weather (or if your feet are tired). Definitely one of the most...
The hotel grounds are very nice and room itself had a rustic charm. The aircon had some issues, however, helpful staff provided a fan for the night. Easy to get to the city center by bus with a bus stop within a short distance from the hotel. Ther breakfast food selection was quite basic.
