Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighborhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.
My wife and I went to the Sorolla Museum to see the exhibition of paintings of Sorolla's gardens. This was a very beautiful exhibition, one of the best in this museum. I bought a book about the exhibition for 25 euros and am enjoying reading it.
"Interesting Free Tour of Restored but Unused Metro Station"
reviewed May 12, 2018 by Travelled_AS
Came across this by accident when doing a search for unusual things to do in Madrid. Anden O (or Platform 0) is actually the old Chamberi Metro station built in early 1900's but was disused from 1966 until recently. It has been restored to its original beauty with advertisements of the day and white tiles and quaint ticket booth etc...
This street is full of shops and completely pedestrianised.
Shops open till late everyday
So many shops.
You have what must be the liveliest area of this supremely fun city Malasaña on one side of the street and Chueca on the other.
These two areas must have more bars , restaurants and clubs than most countries.
Do not miss.
I must have gone pas this several times and missed it. It was only on the tour bus when it was pointed out to me and it really is distinctive and bought us a laugh as it so unusual and quirky.
Fernando Botero is famous for sculpting larger women.

..that’s just how good it was! The staff is so friendly and helpful, the food was amazing and overall great experience! Our hotel is quite far away, so we took the time to come here because we liked it so much, I believe that says a lot.
Excellent burgers and chips. The best I’ve had in a long time. The kids loved it so we ate there again after our first meal when we had our holidays in Madrid. The staff are also very nice and spoke English. The prices are reasonable. I will definitely recommend this place
A pleasant place where you want to spend time. I liked it, you can see that the service is also trying at a high level here. Everything is clean and tidy. I will definitely visit here again. I recommend.
We booked here as an end of trip treat. The hotel is really nice, you can tell its for business and high end visitors. Im a Spire Elite member with OHG and was welcomed well and offered an upgraded room - all top drawer.
The room was really nice, overlooking the garden. Ill be honest, it could do with a...
An old mansion converted into a boutique hotel filled with charm and character. Highly maintained, quiet side street location and a quick Uber ride anywhere. Great beds, modern bathroom and ample sized room.
Only two small negatives - high priced food in the garden restaurant. Nice setting but 8€ for a cup of coffee? That’s just excessive! And lumpy, foam...
Very good value for money. Friendly staff and personell who hellps and supportive. Great location at the heard of Madrid were everything is closed by. The Salamanca destrict is in walking distance with Serrano and Ortega y Gasset best excellent shopping area.
I am staying here for 3 weeks in total and so far the hotel has been very good. My deluxe room on the 6th floor is very clean, spacious and quiet when you close the window. The location is ideal for exploring the central Madrid and it’s near very good places to eat/drink- Honest Greens, La Mucca, 100 Montaditos. The...
