Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighborhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
We didn’t leave nearly enough time to visit the museum and didn’t get to see all of it. What we did see was very good. Lots of very good exhibits from all over Spain, from prehistory onwards. There were detailed explanations in both Spanish and English with all the exhibits. The museum was well organised in periods of Spanish history,...
if you want to visit this museum don't forget that it has free entrance saturday(from 15.30 to 16.30). altough you don't have much time to visit this museum in one hour you can hurry and finish it (as I did). I don't like the fact that they closed the gate at 16.30 (they told us to leave earlier in order...

"Neoclassical triumphal arch"
reviewed August 8, 2018 by LG_Kay
This grand triumphal entrance gate is located in a roundabout at Plaza de la Independencia. The top is adorned with sculptures. Traffic is very busy here. I needed to be patient to take a good photo of the fountain without too many distracting vehicles.
Called to see if we could get a table after arriving in Madrid from Barcelona. Pleasantsurprise they could get us a table. Nuria a beautiful lady that sat us was very friendly and helpful, spoke great English when the other waiters had issues understanding us. She has worked ave lived in Sydney.
We had the foie pastry as appetizer which...
A truly delightful evening of exciting and innovative dishes paired with lovely wines.
The staff were efficient and discreet and the maitre d’ shared his enthusiasm for the food and wine.
We were thrilled to meet Bogoña and see her kitchen before we departed.
We look forward to dining here again.
This is one of my favourite restaurants in Madrid (although it is difficult to say that in a town that has hundreds of good restaurants). The dishes proposed are sophisticated and never obvious. The price reasonable and the wine list very good. A place to go from time to time. An experience to repeat regularly.
The service and atmosphere were great, and most of the dishes were amazing. The dishes were well balanced but there was one issue with some of the dishes being hard to cut and eat such as a dried tomato and a fish dish.
Is a great restaurant, you has to make a reservation previously but they are punctual assigning the table. The service is good and fast. The food is good tasty and you can choose between sea food, rice, burger, ribs, and meat.
This is a very nice hotel in the super chic area of Serrano street. They were always helpful and met all of our demands. Would stay here again with my eyes closed.
Short walk from the subway, great restaurants, bars and high end stores.
Great hotel in a great location. They have a great staff that provides excellent service - all of their recommendations were spot on! They even had 2 Townie bicycles in the lobby that my wife and I took for a ride to and through nearby Buen Retiro Park. The room was well-appointed with very comfortable mattress/pillows. The breakfast was included...
Always friendly and professional service by all the staff. The deluxe king garden room was spacious, modern and very clean. The shower spray heads were to die for. Loved that it was located in the shopping district of Madrid.
This was a very enjoyable stay. The rooms were very well furnished, and spotlessly clean. Good range of international TV stations and good WiFi. The communal areas of the hotel were also very nice. The buffet breakfast was also excellent - the only point to make here is that it is only served from 8am, which might be a problem...
It is an old property with history.. well maintained, though some comments here and there. Staff is cheerful, and helpful.. better you know some spanish.. Location is good on a main street and walking distance to businesses and to recreations.
