You may not realize Moabit is one of the city’s most central neighborhoods when you arrive at Hauptbahnhof (central station). Surrounded by waterways, Moabit is a quiet island protected from the hustle and bustle of Berlin. The crowds that do gather prefer spending their evenings in cozy restaurants over the party venues offered by other districts. With its beautiful parks, old housing and romantic industrial areas, life has traditionally been relaxed and a bit slower here. But the tone may soon be changing. Reasonable housing costs and proximity to city center are attracting more young Berliners and international visitors. This interest is encouraging new bars, cafés and nightclubs, making Moabit a candidate for most up-and-coming neighborhood in the city.
Berlin Hauptbahnhof is not an attraction itself in terms of heading there to visit it (although that's not a bad idea at all), but one way or another you'll encounter it. Whether you're arriving from the Tegel airport by bus, the last and central stop is here. Or, you'll change your S or U Bahn line here for the place...

"Flak tower "
reviewed February 18, 2020 by KathrynM93
I decided to explore the Flak Tower and surrounding area after reading about it’s WW2 origin. Although there isn’t any information about this at the tower, I still enjoyed the climb and being able to see a new view of the city. I wouldn’t say it’s a must see, but if you are in the area, it’s worth a visit.
Housed in the converted train station this Museum has huge exhibition spaces to show temporary and permanent exhibitions - and a fantastic gift shop.
Currently the main space has a sonic installation pumping out industrial beats which go brilliantly with the vaulted iron-work of the former platform area. Curation at its best.
Other galleries have a rather strange biennial type...
This is a beautiful looking bridge that spans the river Spree.
Built in 1891, it was blown up by the Nazis in world war 2 as the Russians advanced. However only part of the bridge was damaged.
It was subsequently repaired.
In a cluster of pretty decent restaurant near to our hotel, we ate here twice, one dinner and our last lunch. It is very good restaurant that caters for both locals and tourists, The food is good, basic, local fare without pretensions. Good choice of drinks. Reasonably priced. Service could be a little slow but was always friendly once you'd...
"Modern, well kept hotel with some need for improvement"
reviewed 3 weeks ago by Poonaaam
Overall it was a really lovely, clean hotel, with friendly service.
There was a nude sauna and steam room, which was a nice bonus to a city hotel - if you aren't comfortable going nude, you can just stay in your towels, as we did! The fitness centre was good, but a little basic and also very hot - this...
Convenient location (metro in 3-minutes walk, supermarket at the same building). Very clean and quiet. Wide variety of TV-programmes. Breakfasts are beyond expectations, coffee is excellent. Highly recommended.
The room was very clean, the furniture was new. The air conditioning in the room does its job immediately and heats up the room very quickly, and the hotel was also very clean.
The only problem was that in front of the hotel was a real madness where another hotel was being built. The workers started work at 7 in...
Staff on front desk were terrific - really helpful and friendly, especially given the circumstances. We can't remember his name, but the guy with long hair was especially friendly!
Hotel is very nice, clean, light and airy rooms, comfy beds and great location!
Quite close to Berlin Hauptbahnhof and the metro system (U-Bahn). Hotel is convenient, has good price/quality ration. Breakfast is excellent, no restaurant available (however Berlin has many excellent restaurants. Free wifi - friendly personnel. Great place to stay
