When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.
"One of world's best open air art galleries, but come here after the Berlin Wall memorial"
reviewed 3 days ago by B1714D
I advise all travelers, specially those not acquainted with history, first to visit the Berlin Wall memorial on Bernauer Str to learn and understand the Wall, and afterwards to come here on the East side. I wrote a detailed review about it, so if interested read it (it's on TA Nr. 2 for attractions in Berlin).
Both of these are...
While the exhibit is not that large, it is encompassing enough to be worth a visit, and it touches upon a diversity of themes related to gaming, including music and culture. There are also some cabinets available for free play running under emulation and a little store with varied merchandise from brands such as Nintendo and Sony. Of particular note...
Was here for a hockey game. Impressive arena in every way - seating, sound, bathrooms, food. Has to be one of the best in Europe. Will be happy to come back for future events. Beware area is filled with construction and road shifts.
We were out to dinner in central berlin and this bridge was something i wanted to visit. We got a bus up and the view and pictures from the west to the east side was lovely. So like the movies and very picturesque. Stay that side take pictures dont walk across. Worth a visit.
The Friedrichshain district is an area I love visiting on any holiday I take to Berlin,an eclectic and hip district, busy and vibrant but I sometimes enjoy visiting Volkspark,a park with a city centre location but at the same time it's very tranquil.
Theres some nice architecture in the park, lovely statues and water features, a superb cafe and lots of...
First of all I want to thank the amazing staff for making my boyfriends late birthday meal so special!!!
Now I’ll start from the beginning.. my friend actually recommended this restaurant to me as she visited Berlin back in January so I thought let’s try it, why not! We arrived at the restaurant and it was so beautiful inside! Very...
The chef Bimi cooked the greatest spaghetti with truffles I’ve ever had. Our waiter Rosario prepared it right in front of us. My friends said there food was delicious as well. We stayed until closing and they offered us free limoncellos. Truly delicious all around.
This small Italian restaurant is our absolute favourite in Berlin. Even with a quite short menu, this family managed restaurant portraits a fullblown picture of northern Italian cuisine. With an excellent and very personal service and an amazing cuisine quality in Berlin, you do need not to travel to Italy for great italian food. Short for money? You're in the...
The best vegan meal I’ve ever had. Everything was so delicious. We had various dishes, the rolls and dumplings were amazing- would definitely recommend. Really great value for money. Only thing we wished was that we had more room to eat!
"Great Hotel - best breakfast for a Hampton Inn anywhere"
reviewed 2 weeks ago by markawinely
The Hampton Inn East Side Gallery is a new hotel with excellent very quiet rooms, and the best breakfast offering I have experienced for a Hampton Inn property. Hotel staff was very nice and accommodating throughout the visit. I highly recommend this hotel.
Great location and Berlin feel-river view from the room. Crazy pink room but very comfortable. Loved the piano in the room as well. Good breakfast with tons of options. Great service from the staff, Kai was so funny and very helpful! Thank you
Being so close to Ostbahnhof station makes it easy to get around Berlin on public transport, but the charm of Kreuzberg (with all its eateries) is just a stroll away. You can enjoy your breakfast on "either side" of the wall!
We have just returned from four night stay here. We thought the hotel was in an ideal place. The tram stops not far from the hotel and it is only two stops to Alexanderplatz. The transport links in Berlin are superb. The train station is a short distance from the tram stop in Alexanderplatz, which is fantastic. We got the...
