Jews were deported from platform 17/Gleis 17 during World War 2. This was a very moving visit, reinforced by the inscriptions on the platform that pay tribute to the number of Berlin Jews who travelled on from here to concentration camps. A very, quiet & peaceful memorial and in natural surroundings, on the edge of the Grunewald.

"Adventure Through the Woods"
reviewed December 15, 2019 by Barbinan_11
Getting there was quite a challenge as we worked out way through the woods and up a steep incline.
We arrived in time for the English tour, led by Claudia. She was a terrific guide, full of information, enthusiasm and and a delightful style. Returning to the S bahn was a bit easier and less stressful, but still a good...
Located in the Grunewald area, at the outskirts of Berlin toward Potsdam, the Grunewald Tower is also a memorial to king Wilhelm I. The road through the forest is especially nice, and the view from the tower is beautiful. There are panels under each of the four windows explaining what one can see in the distance, making the experience even...
Our second time at this traditional, German restaurant while staying at the SchloBhotel in the neighborhood. Overall, it's a great place. Our only issue was that my wife's Schnitzel (one of the most expensive dishes on the menu) was under-cooked and had to be sent back to the kitchen. Our waitress was extremely apologetic and sincerely felt bad about it....
An amazing restaurant with incredible food and a very warm welcome. From the moment we arrived we were warmly greeted and despite us also being late nothing was too much trouble. The food was simply exceptional and our waiter Carmine gave us some fantastic suggestions for each course. The wine too was first class. All in all a wonderful evening...
This restaurant is aboard a ship docked on the banks of the Havel River in Berlin. While the interior is a bit dated, the portions are huge and the views from the deck of sailboats on the Havel are fabulous.
Excellent food at reasonable prices -- we like the pizze best, but the noodle dishes are substantial and well-done as well -- with a homey feel. People bring the kids (and the dogs, because this is Berlin), tease the waiter, celebrate their anniversaries or the first Thursday of the week. Can be a little noisy, but in a nice way.

Today, a holiday, late in the afternoon, we saw advertised on a board in front of this place Cake and Coffee €5.90.
We went in and said "Kaffee Kuchen".
We were shown the available cakes.
We chose what we wanted.
We were asked what kind of coffee we would like.
We both chose Cappucino.
Our bill was 6.80 for the...
I have stayed at this hotel again after 7 years and I must admit that the Schlosshotel got even better. The fantastic and friendly staff at the reception, bar and at the restaurant. A lot of staff is still the same! Speaks for the hotel! The SPA area is very new and fresh. The whole hotel has a new clean...
St Michaels Heim is located in a really beautiful setting. You will have to travel a little bit longer to reach the centre, but it's straightforward to reach from the S Bahn stations Grunewald or Halensee either with a regular bus or by foot. Everything was very clean and the staff were very helpful. Reception is open 24hrs a day....
The hotel is located in a quiet and pleasant neighborhood near a main street (Hubertusallee)
It is a little bit far from the sBahn and Ubahn (800 m. to Halensee station)
But there is a nearby bus stop.
There is a pleasant and helpful staff.
what I didn't like:
The toilet was not clean (brown color ...)
And the fan...
