From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighborhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighborhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
The place was crowded and the wait to see the crown jewels was very long. There's no ventilation on some areas that we just have to go through rapidly. We did not stay very long but just peeked through the place due to long lines.
Great 360º views of the river, bridges and the city. It is free, you can book online up to 2 weeks before, get in quick though, only a set number of tickets for each time slot and they fill fast. Think there is also the option to just walk in, unsure what the wait time for that would be. We...
We chose seeing this cathedral over Westminster and were not dissapointed! The history and inferior were jaw dropping and we even climbed to the top of the dome to get a view from above. Was incredible.
It really is an oasis in the middle of a busy city like London. A peaceful spot filled with greenery and a lunch spot for a lot of people. Having tramped across quite a bit of London all day, it was a nice spot to sit down and relax.
My friend and I chose Angler because we wanted to catch up for dinner but in this heatwave, wanted something light to eat. This was our first visit and I was impressed - cool temp and decor with lovely windows and an outdoor terrace that looked like it had a nice relaxed vibe going on. My friend had the fixed...
Really enjoy my wine tasting gift experience here. Nicola and his colleagues were wonderful and made the experience extra special. The quality and variety of wines was superb....would highly recommend. Thanks & cheers to the team 🍷🍷
I was pleasantly surprised by Mattarello. The handmade pasta was fabulous and just as good as the pasta we ate while visiting Italy. Salvador was just starting out with Sandra by his side, but the both of them treated us like we were regular customers. Fantastic service with real quality food. Grazie!
We had a great overnight stay here and the hotel has really good facilities.
The only thing that let our stay down was that we were put in an accessible room which meant that the sink was at knee level. So if you are staying here and do not need an accessible room ask when you check in.
No fault to find with this Four Seasons - given the superb location, outstanding facilities and top notch service. We had a mild hiccup that was tactfully resolved by the hotel in advance of our arrival, and a perfect stay - rooms are comfortable and well appointed, bathrooms are divine and everyone at the hotel is helpful, pleasant and genuinely...
So grateful to a wonderful team for their incredible service, going above and beyond to accommodate us. Kind and attentive staff were quick to assist with accessibility issues before we had even asked. Lovely breakfast and excellent Moscow Mules on the terrace at night. Love that the hotel is central to the best cultural spots, full of London bustle by...
This hotel was excellent value for money considering it is in such an excellent location. The glass of prosecco on check-in was very welcome! The room size was compact but did not feel cramped. I would certainly recommend and hope to return on future trips to London
This was our fourth stay at this hotel. We love the location - quiet but within walking distance of Covent Garden and theatreland. Great courtyard for apperitif! Rooms are very clean and bed was ultra comfortable. The only hitch was charging our electronics (ipad and cell phone) which required a UK adaptor (subsequetly provided by the hotel).
